Default Squeaky belt

hey guys just recently my belts started squeaking in the mornings when i start up the str. im affraid to take it to the dealer and ask SE to take care of it since i installed the jagxp pulley and the service manager made a comment about it last oil change. is there any at home adjustment on this belt system or is it gonna be a trip to the shop?

you have to first figure out which belt is making the noise.. super charger belt or aux belt. if it's aux belt we do have a new bulletin for pulleys and tensioners.. which is covered by se. to check just spray a lil oil or put chalk on the super charger belt.. don't get any on aux and see if it goes away

The bulletin also covers the supercharger idler.

Mine does the same thing in the winter but not all the time. I just chalked it up to everything being a little stiff when it's cold since all of my pullys were replaced. Like I was told about brake noise , as soon as they see the aftermarket pads they will say thats the cause.

Not to change the post but the brake issue was brought up before I changed the pads and even though they were very noisy after the factory put new pads on I was told that there was nothing wrong. Procedure states that after the pads are replaced and the rotors are checked for warping if the noise still persists thet the lower suspension arms be replaced. This was never done and thats when I put on the aftermarket pads and reduced both noise and dust greatly.

Default Squeaky Belts

My Belts squeak all of the time, i've noticed it since i got it in January. Any basics i can look at to determine root cause? Thanks

Take a close look at your crank pulley. It could be delaminating. It will make a very short, slight, high-pitched chirp, usually only heard on cold-starts. I would've thought it a one-in-a-million-failure, but apparently pretty common. Within a one-year span, I lost one on a diesel Excursion at about 140K mi. and another on an 03 S-type 3.0L at about 83k mi. They will chirp for a loooooooonnnngggg time before they start throwing (Excursion) or chewing (Jag) the belts though. Sounds just like a bit of harmless belt noise.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check that. It's a 03 S-Type with about 62,000. It does it all the time cold or hot.

Won't say I never heard it hot, but much more prevalent on first start or in cold weather

Default Belt noise

Can you take a picture of the pulley, The Supercharger pulley I mean. I want to see what the belt and pulley look like. But the tensioners and belts need to be done, along with the flanged idler and idler pulley bracket.

replace ur belt.. also happened to mine, as the car was cold.. but when it warms up it tended to go away.. i taught it was one of the pulleys but as soon as i replaced the belt(try cheapest way first) the noise stopped.. i spent $140 with labor

Does anyone have a copy of the TSB for the belt/tensioner issue? I have a 2005 STR and would like to determine if it should be covered under SE. I can understand why a "belt" itself would not be cover however if there is a TSB and it relates to the pulley/tensioner those items should be covered.

Any thoughts or help with this would be most appreciated!

Thanks.

I'm not money bags, but when my belt started squeaking on cold starts I replaced all (idler, tensioner, etc..) belts at the same time. Seemed as good a time as any.

Yes I had my 2005 STR fixed under warranty. I never did get the TSB but here is the discussion and all the part numbers that were changed out. It was for the SC belt noise.

Mine was not squeaking, but the belt was old so I had it replaced and had the TSB done too (out of pocket).
