Stalling during tick over
Hello, could someone please tell me where I can find the Idle control valveon theS Type 3L (1999)(a picture would be nice)? I have been told by people on the forum that it could be the cause of my car stalling during tick over. Once found is this easy to clean,
Cheers

RE: Stalling during tick over
Thanks for the info. I am from the UK and tick over refers to idle.
The problem i have withmyJag is that itkeeps stalling during tick over (idle). The car starts normally and drives well, however when I come to a halt and place the car into N or P the revs are normal for about 15-30 seconds and then they drop all of a sudden to about 500 revs. Sometimes the car will stall, more so when all electrics are on, if it does not stall it will stay at 500 revs for a short time and then creep back upto normal revs. I have replaced the plastic breather and elbow, but this has made no difference.
Anyone got any idea what could be the cause other that the idle control valve?

Which elbow did you replace? The upper one or the one below the fuel rail?
If you didnt take the intake manifold off, take some throttle cleaner and spray it
at the back of the intake where the small breather elbow is. Spray underthe intake at idle
and see if idle changes when you do that. Of so it is the lower breather. Any codes stored in ecm?

RE: Stalling during tick over
Hello, The elbow to the rear of the engine (bulk head) was replaced along with the pipe that becomes very brittle. I did not realise that there were two elbows. Is the throttle body contected to the air intake from the air filter? Is it save to spray throttle cleaner into the throttle body?
Cheers and sorry to be a pain.
