Default Stereo Install, wiring help

I'm sure everyone has been here, installed a few headunits in other cars and then come to the almighty jaguar wiring system.. I just can't get my head around it..

Can anyone tell me what the 3 harnesses are for at the back of the stereo?

All else fails I'm going to hardwire it with a rewire but need to know what one the accessory is ( sorry if that's not what it's called overseas, could be the relay wire? The wire that turns the stereo on when the car is on and vice versa to stop it running the whole time and draining the battery)

I've included some pictures, or if anyone knows of an adapter?

You might help yourself by giving details of what you have...

Also, you could download the car workshop manual, electrical guide etc all for free and answer yourself

Hi docma, and greetings from a near neighbour;

The biggest challenge to understand with these cars is that this is no simple process of fused power lead + earth return. It's not even a simple addition of signal wiring and speaker wiring. The chain of Audio/SatNav/Voice/Radio/CDC all communicate via CanBus and/or Fibre Optical links - so replacing single elements is fraught with some difficulty.

Yes, it can be done ... and has. Suggest you read past threads using the forum search tools ... wiring diagrams here on forum or check Gus' JagRepair.com. You need to id those who have done it and have pics to prove it. As you hinted, most I have seen have either sacrificed everything for a total system replacement (some good results but many question cost/waste) or grafted new components like DVD or Rear Camera into SatNav screens (more modest but variable results).

Many more of us IMHO pine for nothing more than a hardware fix to give us:
  1. conversion of now useless analogue TV feed into a rear camera auto selected onto the SatNav screen whenever reverse gear is selected;
  2. an "AUX-IN" audio feed for a USB Flash Stick or, even more modern, an SD or micoSD slot or WiFi.
So, best wishes with your project ... I'm sure there will be no shortage of posters that can offer some added, and more practical, help.

Regards,
Ken

Just an update (sorry been really busy) stereo all in, works great, love the sound from the factory speakers but still have a plan to install a tasteful new system. Just ordered some new mag wheels and tyres for my baby, will chuck some pictures up when they arrive and am happy with fitment
