Default STR coolant capacity...

Hi guys,

Drained the coolant out of the STR this week, including the supercharger circuit,

Want to pick up some jag fluid at the dealer today, just need to know how much generally goes back in,

Any ideas?

thanks,

In my handbook it just says 10 ltrs for V8 engines - doesn't differentiate for Supercharger cars.

The spec book says 12.35/13.15 ltrs but I expect that is from dry.

Just spoke with the local jag parts desk,

The jag-spec fluid is more pink, than orange,

Although what I have in there now, is definitely orange looking,

Is this dexcool that i drained out of my coolant system?

Was it dexcool-filled from the factory, or changed out at some point to dexcool?

The jag dealer is asking $70/five liter container, bit pricey in my opinion,

wonder if I should stick to some orange stuff, dexcool... although i've only heard negative things about dexcool on GM cars...

It seems like I remember these production cooling systems being vacuum filled, so be careful that all the air is out of the system if you are filling conventionally. If your fill volume turns out to be substantially less than the dealer recommends, there is an air bubble somewhere.

I think you'll find most people using the orange Dexcool.

I got mine from Walmart.

(Now that I've said that I expect 20 people along to say don't use it)

Yea... don't feel like flushing the cooling system super thoroughly in order to facilitate a coolant swap, so I think I'll stick to the orange dexcool seeing it hasn't caused any issues yet,

Dex-Cool is the factory fill for the STR. The earlier Jags used different coolant so check the owner’s manual.

Hopefully you got the full strength instead of the premix because it is impossible to achieve 50-50 starting with water already in the system from flushing.

so after some checking, the valvoline Zerex DEX-COOL meets the WSS M97B44-D spec jaguar calls for in our orange filled systems, so... after a drain, I think i'm pretty safe topping it off with this.

if you were to switch to green, you would need to do a flush for sure,

this is not the premix and im planning to mix it with equal parts distilled water,
