Default 2003 stype r suggestion on sale price

i have a 2003 stype r with 96,800 on odometer and the cars engine only has 40,000 miles.. i have mafioso intake, new coils plugs, all new ceramic pads and rotors... car is perfect. clean carfax.. brand new tires, navigation with infinity basslink.. everything works 100% on car, no dings and drives 100%... i am thinking of an asking price of about 13,000 and hope not to go lower, is this realistic?

Eh, I think 13k is too much these days. I'd take off the intake and resell it, before I sold it with the car. You might be lucky to get 10k

I always check the completed auctions on Ebay. Your car will bring $8K-$10K.
I have a 2005 STR with 90K miles and I estimate it's value at $12K max. Probably would only bring $10K-$11K.

You just can't give these cars away.

I'm looking to sell mine in about two to four months to buy a truck. Luckily I wasn't the original buyer given the depreciation.

Ya to think that I bought mine 3 years ago at 14k and the original owner bought it for 65k makes me glad I was not him.

I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I purchased any of our vehicles new. Picking them up three or four model years old for less than a third of what they stickered for is the only way to go for us....

Not to sound like a d*ck. But I just picked up an 03 STR, 108k, Completely redone stereo, in immaculate condtion for less than half of your proposed 13k price.

Yeah, I'm back

Your car is worth 8500-9000 Retail. That's all the money on the car, and that's considering it doesn't need anything, and looks / drives pretty much new.

Take care,

George

Pretty much. This is my 4th boosted Jag. 10th overall....

The issue isn't wanting one, it's finding one that isn't neglected to the point of being a complete $$ Pit, while still priced properly.

Take care,

George

George is correct. (Official Kelley Blue Book New Car and Used Car Prices and Values) says your Excellent condition '03 with typical '03 R options, located in Allentown area, is worth about $9K.

Remember that many people who buy high ticket used cars finance them through a lending institution; typically, the amount of $$ many lenders are willing to kick in is based on a % of "book value" - which usually means Kelly Blue Book value. Cars which are priced above the book value require the purchaser to come up with the extra $$ in cash, which many buyers are unable to do.

Unfortunately, some upgrades like special intake, high performance this or that, etc, don't seem to matter to Kelly.

I'd suggest you go online to Kelly Blue Book and put the specs of your car into their value calculator and price it out for yourself. BTW - the car is worth more if a dealer is selling than if it's being sold by private party - presumably because dealers put more care, detailing and repairs into prepping a used car for resale than private sellers.

For the record, I just bought an '03 v6 S-type in VG condition with 70K miles from a private party for only $6K. I found it on Craig's List, and I used the Kelly Blue Book value to negotiate a fair price with the seller. I saved $1,000 by doing so.
