Default STR Error codes P0171, P0174, P0102 and P0112. Lack of Performance. RESOLVED

So, ive been the proud owner of an STR for the past 2 weeks, I managed to get a "restricted performance" light after some spirited driving. It would come for a few miles then go back into normal mode, but the second I started using the supercharger again it would go into restricted performance mode after around 30 seconds. The car felt a bit bi-polar, sometimes it had power and other times it had none.

Fearing the worst I hooked up my code reader and got the following:

P0171 - Generic System too lean (Bank 1)
P0174 - Generic System too lean (Bank 2)
P0102 - Maf or Vaf A Circuit low input
P0112 - IAT Sensor 1 Circuit Low Input
And a P1111 (Jaguar system pass).

After seeing those 4 main error codes my heart sunk, made worse by the fact that I couldn't find an instance of anyone having the same set of codes. Took it down to the local indie jag specialists, and after spending £24 (about 30$) on a diagnostics session the guy told me what the problem was.

The Fuel pressure sensor vacuum hose had been disconnected. He pushed it back on, and the STR came back to life. Winner!

I hope this post can help someone in the future!

Well I hope that was your problem but you should have had an Fuel pressure regulator error if the hose was unhooked?

Did he erase all the codes so if anything comes back we will know it's a new code?

Codes have been cleared, hasn't reported running lean or thrown up any more restricted performance messages since. Seemed fairly certain it was down to this. Fingers crossed! Any further developments ill update the thread.

Hey you have a rare early STR. What is the last six digits of the VIN?

Not to many from 2002!

It won't flag codes unless an LTFT (see my sig) goes over 25% consistently enough. But if close to that you'd be risking the cats so you might like to pick up an OBD tool with live data such as an elm327 - about a fiver on amazon/ebay. It'll read/clear codes, too.

The break over to to the new face lifted S Type was M45255. This was the 2003 model year for the US.

So I would say yours is the 56044-45255 = 10,789th of the face lifted S Type. We don't know what the production is for the STR but very few are registered as a 2002.

Thank you very much. Could you please show where this hose is located?
