I'm hearing a strange rattle or dragging sound from car. I notice it with the windows down and it sounds like it is coming from the rear but I'm not 100% certain. I put the car on a lift checked for rattles and but I don't hear anything. I'm curious if anyone has experienced this before, it's not noticeable going slow only at faster speeds going do you notice it.

I was driving next to it while my fiance was driving it and it was really loud as I was next to it. It honestly sounded as if the brakes were dragging or if a piece of metal was rubbing on the rotors, which is not the case.

Again you only start to hear it as you go faster maybe 20 mph and higher.

I'm hoping someone will have some ideas as it doesn't sound like a good noise.

Did you check your parking brakes?

 

Yes, how could that be making noise when they dis-engage when driving? Also, it's super loud while driving at higher speeds. Wheels rotate freely when it was up on the lift.

 

OK update the rattle is from the front of the car I can hear it when I hit a bump on the road. Is there something in the front that would cause this?

The crappy two piece lug nuts have been reported to rattle. Maybe check yours out??

Also, the bushings for your tie rods or end links might be gone. Does the noise go away if you make a turn and/or if your going under 30mph or so? They could be the culprits.
