Question Stumped

History: 2005 S Type 4.2L NA - Car sat in storage for about 3 years

New battery installed, radio and everything worked, no reset required, although old battery was dead for an unknown amount of time.

New Gas installed and Fuel Filter changed. Started right up and idle was smooth.

Problem: Will not accelerate above 2200 rpm's. - Codes: P2135 and P0122.

I looked and asked on the Jaguar Forum for solutions. Received great help from many members, thanks.

What I have done and results:

1.) Made sure the battery was at a steady 12.5 v or above.

2.) Throttle Body TP sensor changed twice. New ones wouldn't idle steady or accelerate above 2200. I did check the ohms on all three TPS'. The original TPS checked good on all pins, the other two "new ones" were dead on the same pin. #3 pin starting at ground. ??? When the "new ones" were installed I would get codes P0122 and P0222, idle was eradicate, but no P2135.

3.) Cleaned Accelerator TP sensor, Cleaned Throttle Body, put the original TP sensor back on, idles fine, but the code P2135 is back. No P0122 or P0222.

4.) I checked the connector(s) pins for corrosion, all were clean. I did put dielectric grease on pins.

5.) Used my Snap-On Solus Pro scanner with the S44 card and it will not read the ECU at all.

6.) Used my cheap Autophix OBDII scanner to get the codes.

I'd give my thoughts, but I am out of them. HELP!!!

Don thought, it might be the connector (of the throttle position sensor / TPS) back then:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...sensor-217436/

And that would be my guess as well - or the wiring, of course, assuming the TPS itself is OK...

PS: That begs the question: Do you have mice? (mice like to chew on wiring...)

This tread is exactly why I ended up sending mine to shop here in NJ. My car sat outside all year long under a very good cover for 4 years because I couldn't get the SC out. We replaced every hose and plenty of other stuff. But we also addressed the the well known causes of vacuum leaks. He knows and understands the Jag's emission and fuel systems very well and I let him work on the car over a month and one half, not full time of course. He got it done and the car runs as superbly as a 2005 Jag STR can. Modern cars do better of course but they don't look like this one!

FInd yourself a Jag expert on this MY and save yourself the aggravation. We did a lot of work and soup to nuts it was just under $6K
