I finally figured out why my truck release button was not working
After reading information from everyone who tried to help
A massive THANK YOU
this is what I have found out and the difference between my 2002 str and my 2004 4.2 N/A s types

And hopefully it might help someone in the future

My 2002 str dose have a Valet button like most of you said

My 2004 dose not have the Valet button
And since I had the glove compartment out the trunk release button on dash panel did not work
and there was no Valet button in glove compartment in the 2004
but when I plugged the glove compartment wires back in the trunk release button on side of dash worked
so I tried a little experiment
If I locked the glove compartment with my key it disabled the dash trunk release button so I couldn't use it to open trunk
But when I un locked glove compartment with key dash trunk release button worked
I'm not sure about models after 2004 if they have the same setup but would keen to know

I have attached some pictures





So don't quote me on this but I'm thinking glove compartment lock is the Valet switch
And hopefully this might help someone in the future

2008 North American, has valet button.

 

Great troubleshooting Darrol2004. I had no idea they had two different ways to operate a Valet switch!
