Summer is here
And the hot temps/lowered performance that boosted engines hate! I was just reading over on the XKR/XK8 forum since I am in the process of getting an XK8 for the wife to replace her Miata. There was a thread about improving the intercooler fluid circuit by several means.
1. Larger front heat exchanger/radiator. Especially one with bigger tanks/improved inlet design and flow capacity.
2. Extra/improved fluid pumps. even going as far as isolating the circuit from the engine cooling one.
3. Extra expansion reservoir. 1 or more gallon capacity. Sounds like the best bang for the buck.
4. Killer Chiller. Self explanatory for those that know. Most complex of all improvements, but probably best return for the money as well.
I am contemplating combining #2 & #3 as a solution for the Florida heat issue.
Thoughts?

Measure temp of radiator, expansion tank and intercoolers. You'll see they're already largely separated. Can't hurt to improve that apart from the hassles of making improvements.
water/meth injection is the route I'm going. Since doing the 3lb pulley install, my STR needs it more than ever; was going to install it this week but blew the differential instead, so its been put off 'till that's fixed...
I've got the water/meth setup and I am thinking I didn't do something right. It comes on at 3400 rpms (I didn't want it to come on if I was just driving around town). The last time at the track (84 and humid as can be) I ran a 14.5 with all the mods I have. A full second slower than my last time, and since the last time I added the test pipes, 1.5lb pulley, larger TB and full intake.
you need to play with the water to meth ratio, maybe 'tune' the volume of fluid being injected, adding meth is good, but it may only make things richer, and with no way to tune the ECU, that will only lose power, I plan to start with 80 water, 20 meth,
also, your 3" pipe to the throttlebody is killing power without a doubt. I need to dig up that old-old thread of another member building something similar, but I recall he posted losses in the order of 50hp when he dyno'd it. Put the stock pipe back on and it picked it back up...

I just ordered a larger pipe and coupler, so that should help. I increased it from 3 to 3.5 so that increases the volume by ~640ml which is an increase over the stock on by roughly 300mls
