Default supercharger pulley

Hey everyone,
I have a few questions. I'm thinking of getting a 1.5 PSI pulley for my 03 STR. I'm I going to need a tune with that or will the engine adapt to the extra income of air. Do they even make a tuner for our cars? Also what is the stock PSI on our cars.

First off, no they do not make a programmer/tuner for our cars... Eurotoys offers a ecu tune that $1000 but well worth it if you have the spare cash.. power goes to 435hp and torque to 488ft/lbs with a less restrictive exhaust.. ECU tune is a wayyy better investment than a pulley.. With the 1.5lb pulley you are not required to retune your ECU... stock boost is supposed to be 13.1 psi, and this pulley will up that to 14.5... Not very much, but enough to feel it in your midrange RPMs, but once you get into higher RPMs your pushing the Eaton out of its efficiency range and adding a lot of heat by spinning the supercharger too fast..

Thanks whiteSTR, so in your opinion the 1.5 pully is a waste of time? How hard is it to get the pulley off. I was going to replace my super charger belt and thought it might be a nice small upgrade since I had the belt off.

Your definitely on the right track with the supercharger belt, it helps a lot off the line.. The 1.5lb pulley is not necessarily a waste of, just depends on what your looking for.. When doing pulleys, the thing you have to focus on is adiabatic efficiency which is basically a balancing act between the gains of compressed air charge (which can be increased with a smaller pulley) versus the losses from hotter, less-dense, (and detonation prone) air. The temperature of the air after the blower and even after an intercooler can more than 100 degrees hotter than ambient air at full boost. Roots style blowers, like our Eaton, are the least efficient of all blowers at around %60.. Centifugal superchargers such as a Vortech or a Procharger are generally the most efficient at around %80 (not the most reliable though).. An Eaton M112 like we have taps out around 15 lbs of boost and roughly 460 horsepower anything beyond that and you need a centrifugal, a Kenne Bell, or a TURBO.. If you want to efficiently break the 15psi barrier with the M112 you can always have it ported to squeeze another pound out of it.. Stiegemeier is the guy to do it if your interested.. usually for less that $375, I posted a topic with the link to his website...

As far as removing the old pulley on your own.. It's not terribly difficult, you just need a special puller to do it without damaging any..

This is a stock M112:

And this is what your blower will look like after Stiegemeier is done with it:

For a turbo comparison.. my T70 was rated at 49psi and 75% efficient... and my T76 is rated at 38psi and 78% efficient.. but obviously wayyy more tan our cars could handle... [&:]

Your the man! Thanks for the great advice, I would love to get the charger ported and polished. Is Steigemeier a member on this forum?

No, he's not on our forum.. Stiegemeier Engine Air Flow has been in business for over 25 years... he can port any car that came from the factory with a Eaton.. the link to his website is http://www.stiegemeier.com/jaguar.html they do great work at reasonable prices.. and its a performance modification that has no real negative side effects, only positive ones..

Could you direct me to a writeup on blower removal?

Also, how's the car running? Still having problems?

WhiteSTR,

You said Stiegemeier did your porting for only $375? I emailed him asking about porting and a pulley and was quoted $1495!! He said this is 60 RWHP which I would think is just blower porting and a 2.5 psi pulley...

what about going to a really small pulley and making the efficiency loss back by using alky injection? That would also combat detonation due to lack of octane/ too much timing for the amount of boost, ect.

I currently have an s type 4.0 so I don't have any experience with the S type r, but I have a ton of experience with vettes and mustangs. I'm actually starting to think about upgrading to a type r.

Also, what's the smallest pulley that fits the 112 without too much slippage and while still fitting the snout?

Try a Search (on Stiegemeier I suppose) and you'll find some unhappiness.

Stiegymier (spelling?) checks the internals for wear and will replace worn parts. They offer an internal re-gear of the front section (Snake Bite). What you see in the pics are areas grounded (port and polish) out to increase air intake and velocities= more air pumped-in whilst lowering temps.

First the picture posted is NOT a Jaguar M112!! That is a Ford. I have the correct pictures below. Along with a comparison of stock and a ported version. Not much is done. Be aware that Stiegemeier has treated one of the forum members very badly and I probably WON'T use him because of this. A little searching will turn up the thread.
Here is his web site:
