System Failure
Well that was weird...
Heading home last night I had a system failure! Driving along a street at about 45 mph the car lost power and began to slow down, but didn't stall. A number of warning lights lit up, including one that report a parking brake failure. The engine was still running but the car didn't seem able to exceed 20 mph. It also appeared not willing to climb a moderate hill I was starting up.
I hastily make a U turn and pulled into a shopping center, came to a stop, and turned the engine off. I almost immediately started it again and all the warning lights came back on so I shut it down and thought about calling AAA.
Before I did that, and after 5-6 minutes had passed, I tried starting it up again. It did and everything appeared fine, there were no warning lights and the engine would rev fine. I then drove home in the normal fashion and parked the car. I drove the wife's Lexus this morning, however...
Does anyone have any ideas about what might have happened? The car clearly went into limp mode for some reason. But after waiting a while seemed to operate normally. The check engine light is not on, so I'm not sure it threw any codes. The car has never done something like this before.
I plan to stop by my local garage tomorrow and check the codes. But, if the check engine light is not on, would any "unusual" codes have been stored?

> Battery, especially
New battery 3 years ago. But I was in the trunk futzing around the night before. Perhaps I should take a look in there...
Other than that, nothing has changed in the last 18 months since I had a pretty comprehensive "60k mile" service done.
Would there be codes if the check engine light is not on?
Thanks

He loved to drive his Jaguar...
So welcome to the machine

Had my local (non Jaguar) garage read the codes and they found P2105 that reported Forced Engine Shutdown.
He tried to look it up but none of his databases reported that code for my car. The closest was a P2107 that reported a Throttle Body issue. It reported that the issue would resolve after waiting a number of seconds before restart. That is consistent with what happened to me.
Unfortunately it listed the source of the problem as ECM. I didn't like that... =:-0
Anybody recognize that code, or could his code reader have been wrong in what it reported? As I said, he is not a Jaguar shop, and I believe the only one he ever sees is mine for oil changes and tire rotations.
Any ideas?
Thanks
