I drove the new XJ with the lower level of SC which is 470HP? and that was a VERY nice car but I have to worry about all the electronics. A 120K mile and 10 year bumper to bumper warranty would alleviate that. But that's not going to happen.

Then I drove the XFR briefly on the track, too brief. Only for 2 laps.

They do go like hell.

Neither has the coachwork design of the older cars. The interiors ARE fabulous is a bit busy but the body ... sorry.

Glad to hear that your car is fixed. I assisted in a very similar repair on my friends XJ over a year ago and with the director of Jag training there the three of us took a very long day plus a ton of parts and some specialized tools to complete it. There are quite a few install only once plastic pieces that break when this service is done. I hate plastic!

I'm in the same boat about selling my '05 for 17k (67k miles). There is no way in hell I'm taking less than 17 for this vehicle, no way. I have had the add on Craigslist for a week ad havent got much out of it. I was thinking about an XKR (pending that the rear seat will hold a car seat), but I am realistically all over the place with what to buy. I hope your sale goes well! Best, -JG

I wish you luck...I bought my one-accident, non-frame damage STR one year ago today with 60K for $14750...I'd be lucky to sell it private party, now with 82K for $14K cash...

Lack of demand supercedes nada/kbb value...

Best deal may be to find a dealer selling another low demand vehicle he's looking to liquidate and work the trade in...I found dealer willing to accept my STR + $2K out the door for a 2007 Thundra crewmax a few months ago when gas was close to $4/gal...He claimed I was getting $15K towards trade in...Trucks, especially big crew cabs, weren't very high demand due to gas price...

I passed on the deal due to me not knowing if I'm going to transfer to a new state or not but now I regret on passing on that deal...

Is the lack of demand peculiar to STRs or S-Types in general to the best of your knowledge? If I were considering an XF to replace the STR I would limit it to 2010 or later XF S/C or XFRs.

I believe it hits the the STR the most...People search for S-Types and see a souped up STR for $15K or a more fuel efficient 3.0 with the same basic look half off...Just my guess...
