Timing Chain or something else?

Timing Chain or something else?
Trying this again. Seems first draft was not submitted.
My 03 S-Type, V-8 not supercharged would not turn over. With key in start position ABS warning light flashed. From Jag Forums, problem was likely a dead battery even without weak battery symptoms.
Jump started car, all was well, replaced with new battery and all is good. Even noticied how much stronger the engine turned over with new battery.
Right after I replaced the thermostat. Easy job all went well.
Went to start the car and it turned over well, but would not start. Dianosed everything and no problems encountered. I noticed that the engine turned over much like it does without sparkplugs in place. Pulled the #1 plug, no others, tested the compression and it came in at 30 PSI.
My first thought is the extra torque from a stronger battery caused the timing chain to fail. It must have been about to fail if that is the case.
I also saw with a good light some aluminum shavings on the drive belt.
My call is a timing chain failure. However, there were no symptons whatsoever of a timing chain problem. No noise, no rough idle, etc. Like I mentioned, car was running great. Also there is no unusal noise when cranking the engine. sounds just fine.
Am I on the right track or is it something else?

Have you considered bore wash?
A jumped chain would be making itself heard. Did you start the car and shut off immediately or just move a few yards before this happened?

OK. Appreciate the feedback. I'll try starting fluid next. I had the car parked in the shop to to replace thermostat and just would not start after repair was done. didn't move the car an inch while making repair. Could be aluminum shavings on drive belt are totally unconnected to current issue.
Hate these coincidental problems. Work on one thing and something entirely different fails in the meantime. Just makes diagnostics more confusing. Seems to be my lot in English motorworks.
