Default Tire recommendations for 18 x 7.5 " wheels??

Hey guys,

So I have been looking into many aftermarket wheel options recently for my S-Type (currently with 17" wheels).

I'm leaning toward 18 x 7.5 " wheels similar to STR styling. Wheel specs below:

Boltpattern 5x4.25 / 5x4.5
Size 18x7.5
Offset 40
Hub Bore 72.62
Backspacing 5.82
Load Rating 1600

I wanted to get your thoughts on tire fit if one were to go with 18's... Lowest possible profile / ride quality / correct odometer reading?

The last couple sets I looked at were some Michelin Pilot Sports and Bridgestone Turan as from Costco (which I have on it currently and love) in the 235/40r/18 flavor.

I heard that 40r is a good profile to stick with for 18" wheels, but maybe going with a higher profile might be needed to fill wheel gaps??

Main points to watch out for are:

Offset - The S-Type has a deep (around 60 mm) offset. Less and the wheel gets pushed further outward which might look good but usually makes the steering feel less sweet. Might also put higher loads on the suspension which will wear stuff out a bit faster.

Tyre size - For an 18" wheel 245/40 18 is correct with a load rating of 93 or higher (typical is 97, so usually no problems).

Wheel width - Jaguar go really low and 8" is usually the minimum recommendation for a 245 mm wide tyre.

Why do you need new wheels?

You can do what I did to replace my original di-chroming wheels, get a set of 18" XF wheels (i.e., Full Set Jaguar XF 18" 2009 2010 2011 2012 Factory Wheels Rims 59836 | eBay)

No trouble, no worries, guaranteed to fit, looks nice.

In a throw-forward thread, XF rim specs fit exactly on our S's? I'm thinking of 18s for my lo-mile S. How are OEM 18" rims-decent wheel? Any reason not to consider them?

No it won't so long as front and back maintain the same radius.

The front and rear then roll at the same rate.

The TCM/ABS systems then could care less as they have no
distance inputs only revolution inputs.

The only effect of changing radii is the calibration of the speedometer.
