Default Transmission Code P0745

Hello all. My '02 3.0 is giving me a P0745 verified code and P0795 pending, and I don't seem to have 5th gear. From all I can read on this forum, I probably have a broken 4-3 spring or another pressure control solenoid problem. There looks to be an excellent write up in the Sticky on how to do this repair, but all of the pictures are missing! Does anyone have another resource on how to do this?

Thanks for your help, this is a great forum!

Yeah its a real bummer that the forum did not have the software it has now to be able to save members posted pictures.

JTIS is available here for free or if you want a paid subscription you can join alldatadiy.com

Thanks so much for your quick response. I did have the JTIS on a CD, but now have downloaded it onto my new laptop and can see the steps they show. Would still have been better to see the pictures, but this should work for me.

Thanks!

So I followed the procedure outlined here and in the JTIS, and after a couple hours work I was glad to find the 4-3 spring was indeed broken. The only tricky part was putting the fluid back in - I ended up using an old fuel pump hooked to a jump starter to pump the fluid back in. I think I'm still a little short since sometimes it hesitates when I fist go, but it shifts fine once and running and no lights now.

Way to go Nathan, congrats! I would go to any transmission shop and spend a couple of bucks and have them check fluid level. It is a very common transmission.

Put in fresh fluid and don't drive it until you are sure the level is correct.

It will damage something running with low fluid.
