Default Transmission Upkeep

Hello,

I'm trying to have some preventative maintenance done on the 5R55N Transmission. Basically, I'm going off of this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45131&styleid=5

I have a few questions that are probably obvious to most people on this forum.

What size Magnefine in-line transmission filter should I buy? 5/16 or 3/8?

How many shift scheduling springs should I buy and where do I order them from? He said in the thread that the shift kit comes with 1 already.

What kind of pan filter do I order?

Can someone direct me towards a new solenoid block? He said he bought his for $100, but I'm having trouble finding one for less than $140 and it also seems that the ones I find are used.

Is there a general consensus about the type of transmission fluid we should buy for the best price and quality? If so, which kind and where should I buy it? I'm located in the U.S. if that makes a difference. I've seen on other threads that people in the U.K. are not able to get some of the transmission fluids we can in the U.S.

Thanks for all of the help!

Mercon V for your fluid. The block you can find from www.sonnax.com as well as the springs. And as for the in-line transmission filter, I wish I knew myself.

Hope this helps!

+1 on Mercon V Trans fluid. I had my 5R55N Trans built and I use Mercon V with no issues.

Very helpful! Although, on that website I can only find a remanufactured solenoid block and I can't find the springs. Should I be buying remanufactured or new? And are the springs called something else that I'm not aware of? Thanks again!

5R55N Transmission valve body kits,5R55N Transmission shift kits
5R55N, 5R55S, 5R55W Transmission Parts Ford Transmission Parts RWD

Both of those should be good links to valve body kits. I'll dig around and see what else I can find. I'm heading back to the states here shortly and am planning on rebuilding my spare 5R55N.

The below link has new solenoid packs as well as tons of other stuff.

Below is a bunch of stuff I got from JagV8 on one of my earlier posts. Some links are more useful than others, but still, tons of knowledge available.
