Default Triple Digits in the East

Over the weekend the DC area was treated to triple digit temperatures. I saw 101 consistently. Naturally the A/C ran pretty much full blast, but kept me reasonably comfortable at around a 70 degree setting. The drink holders also got a pretty good workout as well. Recommend anyone living in the east be careful when outdoors for any length of time for the next few days.

Good points, Mike. We're in the same situation here. Although I was born here in North Carolina and have lived in the state all my life, I've always hated summers here. I'm already looking forward to autumn - bring on October....

Hot hot hot here in NYC. Becomes a hazard driving with the way women are dressed out there! Focus on the road!

I live in Quebec where I have to deal with 100% humidity too at the moment. Nice.

I am schmelting........this is terrible.

The Jag has been, and will be sleeping through the heatwave. Taking the wife's Saab everywhere. Black interior in this kind of weather = 3rd degree burns.

Hi Joe,

I had a salesman try to talk me into an S-Type with a black interior once. He said there was only a one degree difference between an all-black interior and a light colored interior...his lips were moving. Mine has the Ivory and Brown interior which isn't bad in the summer.

I love to punish myself, third car in a row with black leather. I guess I'm a sucker for a freshly cleaned wet looking black vehicle, gets me everytime. However I've made a personal oath with myself that my next will be white.

Drove the wifes Saab to work, man I didn't think I was going to make it home! It ran SO hot, and it drives TERRIBLE with the AC on. Guess that's my next project.

Joe,

My pattern is blue with a tan interior. All three of my Jags have had that color combination.

I remember my dad's 1976 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Had black vinyl interior. Sitting in it on a hot day with shorts almost meant a trip to the hospital. I'm pretty sure they heard me scream in Poland.

Other blister inducers were the clear plastic "seat protectors". God only knows why anybody in the Northeast would use them since most cars were rusted out in five years. This was in the late fifties, early sixties timeframe though. As an example, one time a neighbor had an old Hudson and the whole body collapsed on the frame due to rust. A rather cheap lowering job.

Well drove the car to OC Md. To see how my new to me 2000 S-Type 3.0 would run. It ran fine and the A/C worked well! Driving around town I did notice the A/C on the passengers side was warmer, still not a problem. Elected to fish off the deck, hot as hell but caught a 19” flounder. At the same time watched all the boats and the swimwear for this year. It seems that they (swimwear) are getting smaller and in several cases a few people were too big for the suits. Will have a to-do list when I get home tonight, so far it is good!

With it being almost 100 here in NC today, and the STR being Black with Black/Dove interior, I won't be going any where today. The summer always reminds me that I should have gone with white. Like Jon89 mentioned early, I've also lived here my entire life and I'll never get used to the heat & humidity.

Crap!!!!! I thought this thread was going to be about Carelm's high speed high jinx! Oh well, its been relatively cool here in northern CA with only a few days of 90+ weather so far. We should start seeing some 100* days pretty. Stay cool.
