Hi all, I have a 2003 S-Type with no spark at any of the coil packs, have compression tested and we're all good and there's fuel there just no sprak whatsoever. Before I get it taken away for expensive diagnostics on the ECU/Cam/Crank sensors wondered if anyone knows of a common fault? Have checked the coil pack fuse and it's fine. Cheers!

 

It's very rare. If it cranks OK and squirts fuel, it doesn't sound like a PATS fault (a good start). There are probably fault finds / pinpoint test in jtis and on jag's GTR so try those if you'd like to save $$$. Have you at least checked the harnesses are OK and signal is applied to the inputs of the coils? Also, what happened in the time before it died - any symptoms at all?

Do you have a GOOD place you could send it to? You don't want the wrong person making it even worse.

 

Thanks for your reply, where do I check the JTIS and the GTR, sorry a bit of a newb at Jags, although I do know my way around cars. Not checked the harnesses as I don't have a wiring diagram to know which wire does what. I do have a Jag specialist who is supposedly the dogs danglies, comes recommended by a couple of people.

What does your PATS light do at ignition on (watch closely for at least 15 secs; if it flashes count the code) and when you try to start the engine?

It would help in future if you put more details in your profile

I hope your jag guy knows modern, hi-tech jags i.e. electronics & computers as well as old electrical stuff.

 

Not sure where the PATS light is, can't see anything flashing after I turn the ignition on. The info display says performance restricted (no crap, it doesn't run!).
