Hi, I just took down the valve body from my 2000 s type with 5r55n trans. A spring fell out as I was lowering it, from what I understand it is called the main spring. The problem is I can't figure out where it came from, there is a hole where it looks like it should go but I hate to put it back together and it be screwed up. I followed this link HERE and it warns about this but doesn't say where it goes..any help would be awesome, thanks

these are great info but they dont say anything about the main sping between the valve body and the trans body..it's red and relatively large

Good news.

So where did the spring go, in case someone else has the same problem?

 

No did'nt lose the ***** and there is actually 3 ***** in my valve body, 2 on the edge next to eachother and one kinda towards the middle. As for the main spring If you look up at the trans with the vb down there is a hole with some kind of brass fitting inside. It is the only place it could naturally go. It's towards the back by the big circular part called the low/reverse servo (i believe)
