in vehicle head gasket replacement
2001 s type 4.0
two topics to touch on:
1) Removal of nuts from exhaust manifold/cat convertors. What tools to use, there's next to no room!!!
2) Removal of broken crank position sensor. Main part is still lodged in bell housing.

I think I remember leaving the exhaust manifolds in place for just a head gasket change but easy to disassemble on the bench.
If 'hogging' it out with a die grinder or drill a hole and 'slide-hammer' does not work, then gearbox out is probably your solution.
Pull the torque converter drive plate and knock it out towards the steering rack.

Thank you for your response,
My plan was to take manifolds with head, as hardware is so rusted, need to remove on bench.
But I gotta get the convertors loose from manifolds,
What do I use to get at those nuts?

Don't know where your at but if in the rust belt just cut the exhaust manifold nuts and/or studs off. They are all one rusted piece of steel now anyway.
Especially since your removing the exhaust manifolds anyway. Much easy to fix the busted/rusted out hardware when you get them on the bench.
