Default Well, apparently I was a dipstick ...

So last week I got the dreaded Restricted Performance message and the oval yellow light under it. Yes it's the same GD codes as the last time a couple months ago when they changed the MAF. So into the dealer I go.

Well it turns out that I didn't quite have the dipstick seated tight and that's enough to yield L & R banks too lean. I dumped them at Autozone with their OBD reader. I'm not sure I got the yellow light the last time around though? That would come and go.

I thought the draw from the crankcase was ahead of the MAF so would it still be considered a vacuum leak that could affect the mixture?

My Jag dealer was great about this and I had the automatic door locking turned off at the same time.

Oh you mean "How not to be a dipstick". ;>))

My service advisor said that they've had a few where the O-ring seal started to fail.

I got this when I started the engine after an oil change. I left the fill cap off and started the engine but the Jag does NOT like this at all!!!
Installed the oil cap and everything was fine.

I did the same thing the only indication was a smell of hot oil, no warning lights at all.

When I saw the title I hoped you'd figured out a way to add a dipstick to the ZF!

I think the breather (PCV) will be after the MAF to reduce oil vapour contamination of the MAF, which would tend to stop it reading properly.

The CARB/EPA requirements are tough so the car flags all manner of issues - as you just found. Sounds like a decent dealer reaction
