Default What annoys you most about your S-Type??

Okay,

I love this car and for the most part I'm really happy with it, but there is one thing that drives me NUTS this time of year.

WHY would Jaguar engineers decide that the heated seat should only be kept on in 10 minute increments or whatever it is). When I'm driving to work, and it's 14 degrees out, I want it on the whole ride. If it gets annoying or I change my mind, I can turn it off. Every other car I've had, and I've had pretty much an example of all Jag's competitors, NOT ONE decided that I've had enough of the heated seat, and decided to turn it off on me.

The best heated seats were in my Audi A4. They went from 1-6, and it felt like the seat had the most even coverage of heat. They could get ridiculously hot though. On 6 you could almost scald yourself if bare skin touched the leather.

Ok rant over...

George

The recessed area for the windshield wipers. You can't replace the wiper blades without opening the hood. Also, this area traps snow out the ying-yang.

Great topic... what annoys me the most: The lame non-sport (regular) driving mode. Jeez it's like driving a boat on the road and the shifts are so slow and the suspension is like a town-car.

I've finally 'taught' my "S" mode to shift at redline and hold the gears longer.. it's great. I'm just so paranoid now that if I live it on it will unlearn some of those naughty tricks and I just can't have that. Living in a small town with low speed limits tends to affect my S mode.

I wish there was a way to manually set the suspension, throttle response and shift points and keep it that way permanently.

Unless mine is broken,or I am an imibsile for not figuring it out yet after trying for a year, Easily the most annoying for me is the lack of a station scanning feature on the radio..first time I have ever seen this on a car...ever..

station scan - not sure I know exactly what you want if it's not what hitting Search (it's marked ">" or ">>" or something; "<" searches opposite direction I think; never used either except messing when I bought the car LOL)

Annoys me most: ZF's stupidity in not having a dipstick for the autobox (even if I had to unscrew a bung and add it).

Next most: that the remote ICE is not a stalk (next to the one on the left).

yes thats what i mean..you have to push the > or >> each time to move through the stations. every radio known to man has a scan feature where you just push/and or push and hold, and it will stay on one station for 10 seconds or so then move to the next on.. and when you hear what you want you oush the buton again.

so far, I dont see this on the STR...

About the heated seats: I wonder if holding the button on for quite a few moments might "latch" it, the way that recirc latches?

That's a new idea to me (I don't wander through random stations - you've already figured that out though!).

Er, you do this while driving?????

I can on my 2005. There is a toggle like switch on the left hand side. I use to change tracks or stations either up or down.

I agree with jagv8. My biggest pet peeve by far with the S-Type is the fact that the ZF drastically needs a dipstick/fill-tube assembly....

It's not an issue all that much anymore since I had the auto lock doors "feature" disabled but the lack of a lock/unlock switch except for the one near the door handle. I'd like it on the drivers & passengers arm rest. The one on the dash in the center bin is not the same thing. That's a cycling button. So If you have just have the drivers door unlocked you have to first lock all doors then open all doors. You need two buttons or a rocker switch. Just dumb.

I agree about the windshield wiper area design. I also like to lift the wipers off the windshield and leave them up in the air when we get snow/sleet/ice. But hey, it's a part of the aerodynamic design of the car ...

Breaking HID headlamps that don't get a factory upgrade. I'm waiting for my second to be installed after next week. That's two broken in 5K miles on a car with 14.5K miles. After this I guess I'll be fixing it like everyone else out of warranty.

But these aren't deal breakers guys.

That would be my biggest annoyance.

Plus I don't get to drive it much, but I cannot blame Jaguar for that.

You add that the fluid is more expensive than Chanel No.5 by the ounce.

It's on my 2004, too. Attached to the wheel so turns as you steer and that's a minor peeve.

There's a button on the back of the wheel, behind those controls. Track up / down, or scroll through the radio station presets.
