I have a 2004 S type R that I'm in the process of modifying with a ported blower and modified step up ratio. I will also be adding alcohol injection to cool the charge. What is the best way to monitor what's going on in the motor while it's on the dyno. More specifically, I'd like to find a way to log timing, post intercooler temps, fueling and the knock sensors. Is there an ODBII program I can hook up to my laptop and then buy a cable to connect to the car? Any help would be awesome as I am new to this type of thing on Jags.

Best is probably dealer tool at $1000s. That's likely too expensive, so AutoEnginuity with their Jag enhancements.

I run Autotap on my laptop http://www.autotap.com

OBDII connector cable plugs into the car under the dash and then the laptop; I paid about $200 for the unit.

It does not have Jaguar specific code reading capabilities however, for some of the items you listed it will work nicely.

Does it read intercooler temp (IAT2)?

No - Fueling, knock sensors and other generic OBDII yes

Then any cheap OBD would do - elm327

AutoEnginuity will do more, but costs more. It can monitor over the CAN bus, whereas the generic ones only seem to use ISO on the S-Type, and it's s-l-o-w.

It does cost a little more for the unit however, the Jaguar Enhanced Option at an additional $230 looks very interesting http://www.autoenginuity.com/product...ware.html#EI11

Or buy a cheap WDS, here is one for example:

This is the previous dealer tool before the WDS, very powerfull tool.

Spare parts can still be bought (So cable and battery, the latter is ussually bad with secondhand units) with teradyne, you can mail them at wdseurope@teradyne.com.

You do not need the docking unit, the battery of the unit can be loaded via the DLC cable when connected to the car.

So good deal imho, you could always offer $150.
