My first suggestion would be to start the engine, switch ON the a/c, open the bonnet/hood, and observe that the electric fan is actually working.

In the brief description you give, I strongly believe the fan is NOT working, and the airflow created by he car actually moving is sufficient to cool the condensor, thus giving you cold air. The moment the car stops moving, the airflow also stops, and the condensor can no longer dissipate the heat.

If this is the case, then the reason for the fan being inop needs investigating, and may be the fan motor itself simply worn out. The relay that actually controls the same fan may also be a dud.

Check out the handbook but I think there are 2 fuses for the fan, one is 80A (other maybe 10A). Both in fuse box in engine bay as I recall. Will also be shown in electrical guide / JTIS - free download on here.

I had the same problem with the a/c only blowing cold air when the car was driving. I ended up fixing the problem with the TSB specified in post number 4 in the thread posted below:

My A/C stopped working on my 04 STR a week ago. I've been reading all the posts and slowly eliminating failure points one-by-one. Since the lines aren't feeling cold and the lower port below the fender well is reading high pressure, at about 100psi, I am suspecting either the pump or the valve in the pump has failed. Not something I need to have to fix right now. I am pretty sure my DCCV is working properly.

Grumble-grumble......

Thanks again.
I too recently implemented the compressor valve spring modification per the TSB instructions. It has made a world of difference in the performance of my A/C system, particularly at idle and low speeds. I would not even have known such a fix existed had it not been for this forum and its members who generously contributed their time to posting the fix info. Thanks all! Like imeshmash, you saved me a boatload of cash.
