Default Where to put......

Anyone have aftermarket gauges in thier STR?

I'd like to put a couple gauges in the car but cant seem to find a pod.

Interested in adding a Water temp gauge to splice in right before the intercoolers.
And a boost gauge.

Still trying to figure out how to tap into IAT,IAT2 to get readings.

I've almost thought about throwing a MB to boot of CF card running XP and make it boot to OBD-II tool of sorts and tapping into the Nav display.

Nav may be hard as not sure it's got any common interfaces.

avos mentioned various sensors not available during WOT (mainly fuel trims, I think; don't know if IAT is likewise) so do some testing before committing.

IAT2 is not available at all as generic OBD-II (but if you can program I can tell you how to read it).

If you want to record data in real-time, some sort of PC or PC-like device would help LOL but may be awkward to mount and costs extra if you already have a laptop

HTH!

Well I have some good news, I was looking at the JTIS wiring diagrams and I found the wires I'd need to show video from a PC, next to figure out is how the touchscreen interfaces with the NAV headunit, I suspect its serial so what I could do is use the touchscreen controller as a P/S2 mouse.

There is an Ultra Micro motherboard 6"x6" that is 1.2Ghz embeded that I have used in the past for other car PC projects. Run Windows XP stripped down to fit on a 128MB CF card. and a wifi card.

What I could do is splice into the OBD-II port under the dash and run auto-ingenuity in the carpc.

put the case which runs on a 12V source in the trunk and run front USB ports for like a thumb drive for dataloging or music, movies what ever.

Geez this idea is getting out of control lol.

Here this site may help some on helping you do some of the pc stuff. There may be some stuff on tapping into the OBD-II. Great site used it alot when I was working on a mobile in car pc system that I never completed.

Nah, not really.

Plus I did manage to find a module that can already interface with the Screen, and has a Switched input remote.

It adds 2 video inputs, and a backup camera. only 4 wires to splice to install I called the company up and they quoted me $200 to my door.

The 4 wires are power (+), (-), (ACC) (Reverse "R" trigger)

Thinking about using this software:

this supports the following PIDS:

Odd.... thy call them "generic" but they include non-generic. Ah... at extra cost. Overall not that cheap and.... doesn't include jag support. Stick to AE?

Quite a list of things to buy, so quite a cost. Glad it'll be yours

What's the video/etc module that works with the nav?
