Window tinting--dark or light?

Mine actually seems to reduce glare at night. Its a little darker than normal but really doesnt pose any issues otherwise.
My daughter is living in Salt Lake (attending college) and she was forced to scrape the tint off of her drivers and passengers side windows to pass the state safety inspection...
