I've been looking for a replacement passenger mirror ever since someone clipped mine. They folded the mirror towards the front of the car 180 degrees, and smashed the outside plastic cover as well as the edge of the black frame.

Looking at my X and S types the mirrors seem identical. Holding the S-type outer plastic cover (smashed up) to the X-type it seems to be a match. The base where it mounts to the door may be different so my question is. Can I use an X-type mirror (which are plentiful on ebay) as a replacement. If the outer shell is the same, can I swap the bases? (My S-type base is completely intact). I don't care if the electric portion works, I can always just set the mirror.

For some years, I believe they are. You can buy the cover on its own from your dealer, if you wish.
