Default X200 V6 water pump removal

OK, not getting too carried away, but I have what sounds like the water pump rumbles on the Black car.

Looked at it briefly, and see that the pump "appears" to mounted to a bracket on the snout of the sump overhang??.

I will delve DEEP into it tomorrow, but are there any traps to getting this pump off, and the new one on again?? Things like hidden studs/nuts/clips etc/

My eyesight is not what it was back in the days of the V12's, and I would not be happy snapping something.

I have tried, for the 6th time, to get the JTIS working, but my relationship with laptops is not the best. NOT tech savvy at all.

This is the pump I can get locally, and looks like the whole assembly, sooo, why the gasket??, or am I missing something.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Grant, removal and replacement of the water pump is quite straightforward. Once the pump and housing are removed from the engine, you can disassemble the pump from the housing on a bench.

I would suggest you also replace the idler pulley(s), serpentine belt and tensioner.

Thanks for that.

I looked more at things today, and removed the belt, new 60K kms ago, and spun the pump by hand, and felt fine, which by the noise I am hearing I would have expected some roughness??.

Looked some more, A Bank idler, oh dear, rough as 10 cyl V12, so a new 6203 bearing pressed in, now sweet.

Top idler was replaced with the belt, and feels fine.

The tensioner bearing also feels fine.

All the other rotating items also feel fine, and, yes, I do know that under no load, everything feels fine.

Put it all back together, and seriously quieter, but still a slight rumble at times, so I reckon a water pump and tensioner etc will be done this week.

At 161K kms, things are starting to fail, normal situation, so time for some surgery.
