Xeon headlights not covered
I own a 2003 S-type 4.2 V8 with 30,000 miles. I recently took my car to my local dealer because my xeon headlights appeared to point down and not level correctly. I have a six year 100,000 mile warranty on the car and the dealer told me that my xeon headlights are not covered by warranty and it will cost me $2,800 to replace them. I am really pissed and feel there 100,000 mile warranty is crap. Can someone advise me on how I can go about making a formal complaint to Jaguar USA so they can cover the cost of selling a product with such poor quality.[:@]

RE: Xeon headlights not covered
My 2003 S-Type R had the zenon headlights pointing too low and the dealer adjusted them right there and that was under the select edition unless they did it because I just bought the car. I had a few things that they tried to charge me for but I just kept after them and eventually they gave in.

What is up with all of these headlight topics? Can't the moderators block these headlgiht posts for about a month? Maybe they can post a sticky saying that headlight replacements/alignmentsare not covered under warranty?
Bigmanm12-
Rather than replacing your lights you should stop them from self-leveling and then manually align them. People have been using non-self leveling headlights for 100 years without any problems. I don't even understand why they include that feature in Jags.

Technichian tried adjusting them manually via screws but they didnt help. They still pointed to the ground. They say headlights needs to be replaced at $2800. It appears that everyone is having this same problems. I got a TSB from consumer report saying the same thing. Shouldnt they replace them ? This is completley rediculous Im very upset with Jaguar the way they handle my concerns. I have to drive with highbeams on and drivers are flashin lights at me. I read in some threads people has gotten there complete assemblies replaced under Select 100K, but other like me and Bigmanm12 are getting treated unjustly. I filed a complaint with Jaguar Headquaters as well as the BBB, and Consumer Reports/ Affairs.

Listen to Jagtech. When I bought my Car 2005 S Type R, I checked this CPO vehicle. This select is an extension to your originalwarranty which comes with the New car. It covers exactly everything which is covered under the new one. My dealer told me that theonly things which is not covered are those cosmetics type which you break due to misuse like Sun Visor, or door handle etc.

If they are covered then whyare wehaving a difficult time getting Jaguar to cover minesand bigman12 ? Isnt that discrimination they cover other peoples xenons under Select 100K Warranty but others they dont ? This practice is unjust and the Select promotion is very decieving especially when you have a problem they will not fix it, but tell you it will cost $2800. I bought the car from Jaguar based upon the Select Edition 100K Program. Im now under the impression that the Select Program is crap as well bigman12. If anyone can shed some light on getting mines and bigman12 issue fixed much will be appreciated. Thanks

Look in the select edition book and look for lighting. It it doesnt say that they wont cover them then they have to cover them.
You are obviously not saying the right thing when you go there. Go to a different dealer. Call some. Even if you have to drive 100 miles thats still better than $2800 dollars.

RE: Xeon headlights not covered
I know from experience that if a dealer decides that their not going to fix something then their just not going to fix it period. Covered or not. My parking brake calipers were sticking causing the pads to wear to metal after 7000 mi. and eventhough select said that they were covered the dealer just cleaned them and charged me 330.00 for the park brake job. I did get 50% back from select after an investigation but the dealer should have just replaced them.
They just kept insisting that pads are not covered even though it was clear that the calipers failing were the direct cause. I also pointed the issue out to them several times during previous visits and was told that there was nothing wrong. I do love this car and would buy another jaguar but just because one dealer fixes something for free doesn't mean that they all will. They are all independently owned and basicly set their own rules.
I also have had many GOOD dealer experiences!!

Well at my dealer and another dealer I just went to and paid another diag fee of $120 and they said Select Edition doesnt cover HID Xenon Headlight. They advised me that my headlights need to be replaced. Im upset right now. I think Jaguar is a ripoff especially they promote and sell me a car as certified with 100K warranty but refuse to cover my headlights when their defective. I filed complaintswith BBB, Consumer Affairs, and Consumer Reports about Jaguar practice. This is very discriminatory if they cover other peoples headlights under warranty, but will not cover headlights for me and bigman121.

Jesus, Take the car in....leave it in the service drive and tell them if they do not fix your headlights you are going to sue them. Hand him the keys and tell him to call you when it is fixed. Then leave.
Also put a sheet on the dash with your phone number and address etc.
If you cant handle this, I don't know what to tell you. There is some reason they are not covering them.
If select edition covers an item, a dealer will fix it under select edition.
Call customer service at 1800-4-jaguar and ask for the area manager for jaguar to call you.
Do the latter first I might add. See what the response is.
I am sick of hearing about this issue. Do what I said. Dont talk about it anymore. If at that point you do not get them fixed. Pony up and pay to get them fixed or don't. Either way please do everyone here a favor and STFU about your HID problem.
Over and out.
