zf adaptation info
i recently did some in depth transmission work on my car...everything went well and trans is performing beautifully....here is a question i asked zf north america with their answer...maybe others have had a similar question and this might help in understanding what the numbers mean:
my original fill pressures before repairs were...clutch C at 400...clutch B at 280...clutch E at 400...clutch A at 400 clutch D at 143
now it helps me to know my repair was successful by feel and the data and my clutch packs themselves are ok
Your question to us
i have a 2006 jaguar s type r...recently i replaced seals, solenoids fluid and filter.and separator plate..i did the adaptation clear and adaptation test drive....my transmission works beautifully now..i was curious as how to interpret the new clutch readings...clutch C is now 92 while the rest are negative 120 for clutch D and about negative 240 for the others...are these numbers good and what does the negative vs positive relate to and why...thanks in advance...the vehicle has 170,000 miles and only zf parts used....Scott
Dear scott hodges,
The fill pressures look good. The reason for the +/- is there is a baseline set at 0. Those on the + side require more fill pressure and those lower require less fill pressure. You don't want too much either way. In general, as long as they are less than 300 either way it's a good thing.
