Hi everyone

Per another posters suggestion here are the codes ;

P0300 general misfire
P0301 cylinder miss fire
P0303 same
P0305 same
P1316 injector circuit - IDM codes

It seems to me I may just need a tuneup but im interested in your thoughts.

This car has burned through my wallet so I hope this is a maintenance issue and not a true repair issue - put over $6k into a car I love, but we all have a limit I guess.... Thanks for your help !!

 

I assume it's a V6?

It's all the same bank so something common to all three.
Fuel trims are going to the the next thing to look at.

Oh, and you didn't have a P0307?

 

Without knowing the number of kilometres/miles on the vehicle, it is difficult to guess what it needs.

If all the misfires are on the same bank, check STFTs to determine if there is a vacuum leak. You may want to inspect the wiring harness to the injectors as well to ensure the loom is intact and all connectors firmly in place.

It is also possible that oil is getting into the spark plug wells shorting the coil packs. After a cold soak, remove the coil packs in the corresponding Bank A cylinders to see if they are oil-soaked.

The file below contains the cylinder numbering schemes based on previous and ISO designations.

 

Thank you guys for your help - everything needed cleaning - reminded me of moving plaque from arteries - $1,500 later ($1,000 in labor), it's finally resolved.

Luckily it was a maintenance issue...

I'm far from technical - I can negotiate billions of dollars in commercial real estate contracts but I couldnt fix my own car - I am especially afraid to touch a jaguar - im afraid to have my nephew (BMW mechanic) touch it for fear we would hurt the warranty, but then again the warranty has not served me at all.

The majority of aftermarket warranties don't cover the type of things we see go wrong with these Jags. The ones that do cover everything cost more than the car is worth.

If you can't/won't DIY the best path is finding a knowledgeable independent mechanic that you can trust. Looking at the repairs you've done to date and the outrageous costs attached to them, I'd keep searching.

I think I will cancel the warranty and I am still loving my jaguar despite the soaking I received. I always wanted a jaguar and cannot beat the drive and wood interior of this car. Hopefully this is all I need to do to it.

I don't know where you are in NJ but you could speak to these guys Contact - Status Motors of NJ George used to be a very active member here, it looks like they may not do much servicing now but I'm sure he will have suggestions.

 

By studying this forum, learning to search for your particular issues, and asking detailed questions here, you can learn to DIY many of the issues that all of our S-Types are known to suffer from. Plenty of help here - all you have to do is ask. As you have already learned, if you leave these cars in the hands of retail mechanics they will drain your checking account quickly. It is well worth your time and effort to study up here on the forum and assume responsibility for the things that you can learn to do with just a basic set of tools....
