Default Hello from Snowy Southport !!

Hi
I am Andy, live near Southport (which is usally lovely and sunny, but as its nearly May has been Snowy the last few days).
Been a car nut since birth, and finally after 20 years lusting, I bought my first Jag. Its an 1997 X300 XJ Executive, its the 3.2 Engine and I love it.
I plan to gently restore it over the next few years, i work slowly on it as I am disabled so can only work on it when my health allows.
If there are any other Jag Owners around here, say hello, would be good to get to know some locals to chat to :-)
Cheers
Andy :-)

Welcome to the forum Andy,

(from sunny Durham - we had snow yesterday)

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the X300 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link UK & Eire - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
I actually been reading the forum on and off for years without joining while trying (but failing) to find a Jag for me.
GGG thanks for the links and how to do the Sig :-)

GGG, I have added a Signature, and a picture, but they are not showing. Have I done something wrong, or will it only show once my 3 Day New Member Period is over.

Ignore me GGG, Pic working now as well, my fault for making sure the pic was smaller then 500, but not smaller than 100, then not realising I had to "insert the pic" into the Sig. But all sorted now.
Thanks again everyone for the welcome, those in Aus, send me some sunshine !! :-)

Hope its ok, going to try and post up some bigger pics :-)
Its in pretty good condition for its age, apart from the usual clock that doesnt work, and headlining that needs repair.
First things I want to look at is the Rochester Valve as I get petrol splash back when filling up, and need to get new fobs and get the immobilisers all synced up
:-)

Bought it in the Rain !! A no no, but as soon as I saw it and drove it I knew I would buy it. :-)

Glorious silky smooth 3.2 :-) So much better than my clattery diesel MPV daily driver.

Interior in pretty good condition. Looks very grey in the pics, its more cream in real life.

Genuine 80K miles, and 3 owners.

3 full seat belts rather than the central lap belt, much better for taking kids :-)

Andy,

As you've discovered, Signature changes appear with the NEXT post - not immediately.

At 19 years old, your X300 Executive looks just as good as my Sport equivalent did when it was 10 years younger.

This model has a very good reputation with our members for mechanical reliability and build quality. I did over 60K trouble free miles in mine and only sold it because I fancied a change.

Thanks Graham, It does need some bits and bobs doing, but I got it very cheaply from a dealer who took it in part ex for a Boxster so just wanted rid. Full History, decent tyres all round etc.
Plan to give it a full strip down and respray in next few years, sort out any rust and suspension bits then hopefully will be a long term keeper I can pass on to my daughter when she gets older.
Cheers
Andy :-)

Hi Andy, I've recently joined the forum after buying my first Jaguar. I too am disabled due to a horrific motorcycle smash in 2001 leaving me with lifetime injuries. But I enjoy doing bits on the car myself although paying a price in pain for days after.
I'm in middle England not far from the Silverstone circuit. Glad to see you and dig deep because there is a vast wealth of useful information on here.
I hope you enjoy your new to you Jaguar. I am smitten with mine and so is my lovely little lady. She took me out in my car today she loves driving it that much!
