Do you wear a particular watch when driving your XK?
I am a watch nut as well as a car nut. I like to drive my Porsche with my Tudor watch and my XK with my Heuer watch? Anybody else with watch/car preferences?

Haven't worn a watch in the Jag.
Haven't worn one regularly in over 15 years. Used to wear one regularly for over 20 years, as my job was in software, I had purchased a Casio in the early '80s that had a 'hex' calculator. It was damn handy, and I wore it daily.

Surprised there aren't watch nuts chiming in, fine cars and fine watches typically go hand in hand. I have seen these threads in my previous BMW and Porsche forum and they would get a lot of traction!
Alas, I am not a watch guy, but I recognize that it is not necessarily about functionality as has been brought up. Just like buying an XK is not simply getting from Point A to Point B, it is getting there in style!

A mobile phone..lol seriously? Using your logic "do people still drive Jaguars? I would think that a Honda Civic has you covered". We do not buy Jaguars just to go from point A to Point B, we buy them for the experience of owning a finely crafted automobile. The leather, the wood, the sound of the exhaust, we know we are in something special. Sure, a Jaguar is just transportation to some, but to us...it's more than just that.
Well the same goes for fine watches. Sure they tell time, but a watch aficionado views them as fine pieces of jewelry or well made mechanical instruments. When we wear them we enjoy the experience of ownership. Just like you do when driving your Jaguar.

A classic car REQUIRES a driver with a classic watch;-)
My Audemars or my Patek. Classics. Both with leather bands.
The question is: Are you such a watch nut that you change the bands to match your shoes and belt :-)
Thanks for the smile.

Me too! I never understood why titanium never caught on. Its the only material the body accepts as its own, thus hypoallergenic, light, strong, scratch resistant.

For those I know who like watches, they equate weight to cost. A Titanium watch feels so light, it has a cheap quality to it (for them). It took me a while before I got use to the Omega, but now am a Titanium convert! My other watch is an IWC that I have owned for almost 20 years and still looks modern and cool. I have had it serviced 4-5 times in both USA and Switzerland. I have family in Biel, so getting a watch serviced is pretty easy...
If you're a jewelry person, its all well and good. Personally, I hate wearing jewelry. I'll fidget with it. It just never feels right. I'm thankful I never had much interest in watches though as that can become a pretty expensive hobby of its own.
I did wear watches up to about 8 years ago, but they really just got in the way. They would scratch things or would become scratched themselves. There's a clock on the dash and there's a phone w/ a clock in my pocket. How many do I need?
