The only reasonable decision. That's why Jaguar changed from composite gasgets to MLS ones starting from MY 2001.

Big job adjusting the valve clearance ! I got 14 perfect with the shims i had, the others i had to order... and they are expensive :O

Stainless steal exhaust with the custom downpipes

The shims, i used a facom digital caliper and a feeler gauge to adjust the valves .20 inlet en .25 exhaust

Home made locking tool

New distribution set from the dealer

Almost ready to start, a lot of cables to reconnect ! Insert oil and cooling fluid

Only the air inlet left cant wait

hi all,
I am quite new here (not yet found a introduction tread) but am looking for info on just the job in tread subject.
I plan on putting the heqds back on asap, but 2 valves need adjustment.
Haven't succeeded to get the shim from the cups yet..
Looking at current old tread, that looks stopped before succesfull job finishing,...maybe there are things to think of, that topic starter did not share in 2013, or was not aware about?

Grtz from the Lowlands.. (The Dutch ones;-))

The correct procedure is to use a compressor and blow air between the shim and the bucket. Using a magnet is a no-no by the way.

Thanks, that worked! (still took a while but it works well)
Now up to the nice task of putting the engine back together!
