Great combo and looks to good to be true. So with that I would be suspect as to how much damage it had. I would see if there were any before pictures and also see if you can talk to the shop who did the repairs. Proceed carefully but I must admit it looks good.
Nowadays you could get a NON-Salvage 4.2 XKR for about the same price.
Personally, I would never buy a salvaged (actually would be called a "rebuilt/restored" as salvage is PRIOR to repairing any damage) unless is was RIDICULOUSLY cheap. By that I mean in this case ten grand or less.
Of course, this all depends on one's pocketbook.
Price is really not that low for a salvage title. Doesn't have all the "bells and whistles" as it doesn't have adaptive cruise control (best feature ever) which probably means it doesn't have the advanced technology package. I will admit though that the colour combination is the best. Same as I had on my X100.
I have purchased many salvaged cars with generally excellent results, and this car looks great, but the price for a 75K 2007 XKR doesn't reflect tremendous savings. Were it $15K or less then it would be a different story. Since the car is listed in Los Angeles' Craigslist, my neck of the woods, if anyone is seriously interested, I'll be happy to take a look.
So, I'm confused, it says 2008 in the seller's description but 2007 at the top of the listing. As a 2008 it is probably a reasonable asking price, but I saw the 2007, and that threw me off.
The seller is in Northern CA (outside Sacramento) and just confirmed it's a 2008. I've never bought a salvaged car but I admit being quite smitten by its color combo and current condition. The seller wants $17k.
The fact that it was purchased from an insurance company means that they said the car was a total loss. That suggests more than the damage shown in the photos. I would keep looking.
I agree something doesn't add up. The description states light damage with 1 tail light and bumper cover were replaced. That's less the $2k. No way an insurance company would total it for that. Also the before pictures show a bit more damage than the description.
If you are set on looking at it, make certain you find a good Jaguar certified body shop to take it to for a very thorough inspection. Offer to give them a couple hundred dollars for their time so they really do it well. Better out that rather than what ever it takes to correct what may need to be done or have the peace of mind that it was done correctly.
Other points to consider: the car is branded salvage and makes it difficult for future resale unless you plan to keep it forever. At that vintage and mileage there are some key items that will need attention if not already done such as the convertible top needing replaced due to faulty rear window, leather dash and door leather glue may or will detach, etc.
Based on the pictures there isn't enough detail to determine why the car was listed as totaled or salvage. It is hard to see what support damage is done to the bumper rail and it's mounting. Also was the boot lid bent or was it just misaligned because the latch area was damaged. How about the tail pipes and muffler and if they were damaged what about the rear diff. Then there are the insurance value numbers vs. the repair estimate. And what was the cost of the repair to get it fixed . As for the title there are states and people who can get them "washed" so the record of salvage is gone. There is more work then can be seen but if it was done correctly and the price was right it would be a good buy.

I would buy it pending a chassis inspection. There had to be some chassis damage to write the car off but, it does not have to be catastrophic in nature for the insurance to total it. If it passes an inspection, drives straight, handles normally, it would be a very good buy. What lowly economy cars can you get for that price?
Get it to an approved Jaguar bodyshop for a thorough examination as suggested above if you really want it. Also read and follow JAHummer's response above.
The rear end was clearly smashed on both sides. It would be nice to know how that happened without smashing the trunk inward. Looks the XKR was hit from both sides at one time.
It looks worth a very hard look. But don't focus just on the title. Regardless of title status these are very expensive cars and there's a lot that can go wrong. This was my thread "

The body damage repair costs for these aluminum cars is extremely high and you need a specialist to do it right. Good Luck! I've got a very nice Blue and tan 2005 XKR convertible on cars.com.
I have bought several salvage title cars in my life. I have a trusted friend who owns a high end body shop. He too buys and drives salvage title cars whenever he can. His advice to me on salvage cars is this: If the air bags were deployed don't buy. If the car was rolled don't buy.
Other than those items, it all boils down to how good the repair job was. California has very strict salvage/rebuild title requirements. So don't worry too much. As others have said, the price is a little steep.
$16k is as high as I would go. And I too love the color
I did see this on Craigslist and went in person to examine the car.
74,500 miles.
There were several photos of the vehicle prior to repair and the only damage that was apparent and that was fixed was a new rear bumper cover and new rear tail light on the LH side.
Crawling underneath there was no evidence of any frame damage, creasing, welding, straightening or otherwise. The rear bumper mounting had been crushed (and restored) in the rear impact but only on the LH side. This can be seen in the pictures.
Additional pictures verified that there was photo distortion that made the rear wheels look like they had been folded under! - in fact they were not affected in any way. Wheels are clean and original and Yokohama tires in good condition (+50% left)
Other damage was a scratch to the front bumper that was repainted, and sun damage to external plastic parts (headlights for e.g.)
The rear trunk lid was not replaced and was not damaged. No evidence of other respraying of the car.
I don't know why an insurance company "salvaged" this, after speaking to some of my auto biz friends, they conclude that there may be no standard reason. Sometimes just the cost of repair vs the payout, and you can get lucky. I can't find anything that points to repairs to front damage, chassis damage, side damage or anything significant.
The car drove straight and true with no wobbles or pulling.
Seller is in the auto parts business; said he bought it to part out but then realized that the damage was minimal and so he fixed it and drove it as a main car for 3 months before deciding to sell it, not desperate to sell. He has several vehicles.
Inside of the car was filthy - a lot of sun and grime, maybe stored with the top down? Single original car owner in Las Vegas so some sun damage to inside and outer soft-top has some scuffing. Glove box power outlet does not work. Comes with original books and manuals.
I offered a low price offer which was refused.
After doing some more investigation I upped my offer and we settled on $15K
Spent two days with a small brush, Griot's and Maguires and the interior looks fantastic!
The car seems to run great - drove from Sacramento to Los Angeles and then went on a drive to San Diego. Engine sounds clear and strong and all systems function.
A little gurgling sound ocassionally when AC is on but nothing crazy (vent servos?)
Map light doesn't work (won't shut off)
can't get garage door opener to sync although the LED light does come on when depressed.

I love the color! I was looking at spending over twice that amount on a 2010 with similar miles but the silver/black was a "sleeper" color for me.
