A quick update having spent the evening in the garage. I took the centre console out and the radio/switch cluster. Discovered there weren't sufficient connectors there so went to look for the amplifier in the boot. It's above the navigation system if you remove the liner on the RH side. The photo shows the wheel arch in the bottom left corner, which should give you your bearings.
From there on it was quite straightforward. Unplug the two leads in the side of the amp, insert the SOT lead from Nexxia into the amp and plug the original leads into the other side. That gives a break out loom for the Parrot kit so plug the (Parrot) ISO leads into that.
There's one loose red lead which the instructions say "connect to a suitable switched ignition +12V supply". That's proving difficult because all of the powered leads I could find were unswitched. I think the amplifier must be permanently on. I'm not sure if there is anything suitable in the fusebox. Has anyone any suggestions?
The main remaining issue is that I now have a hands-free kit in the boot and somehow have to route the head unit through to the console. Drilling a hole through the fuel tank doesn't seem to be a good option, so what is the best route to run the head unit and microphone cables?
If so, remove the rear seat back and there are several holes in the rear bulkhead, usually covered with black tape.
Thanks Charlie. I was hoping there was an easier way than removing the seat back. Still, that's probably quicker than messing about trying to work around it.
Any suggestions on finding an ignition power lead in the boot? The instructions say "in the fuse box" but i couldn't see how to remove the fuse panel to test the wiring behind it.
Thanks for the link. I did search, but obviously didn't get the right combination of keywords.
Everything does still appear to be working and the Nexxia leads made the connection very easy, the time consuming thing was working out where to stick them. Dreadful instructions!
So a progress update: I got the rear seats out with no problem (thanks for the advice!) and installed - hid! - the blue Parrot control module behind the panel at the side of the rear seat. From there it was easy to route the power and audio cables back to the boot and the head unit cable forward, under the back seat, through the centre console, and mount the head unit above the front of the console below the satnav.
I was hoping to route the microphone the same way as the OEM one, but the cable wasn't long enough so I took it along the floor on the drivers' side, under the kick plate and door seal and mounted the microphone on a clip on the sun visor.
The only remaining issue is I still don't have a power source switched from the ignition. I can't find the auxiliary power connector in the boot. There are some connections to objects that I don't recognise and a loose connector behind the battery close to the bulkhead that has two unswitched power connections. I've attached a photo in the hope that someone can point out the AUX connector (which could have something plugged into it).
The Nexxia adaptor was a real time saver and the extended harness all fits behind the wheel arch under the boot liner. It's a bit messy as I've just cable tied it to the existing harness.
It is the connector with the three wires: Brown, Black, White with red stripe taped beside the battery in the first photo. It is mated to an empty shell.
You will be able to get battery and ground from it, but for switched power, you need to add a relay in the empty position in the boot fusebox.
Also, for the streaming audio feature, if you are happy with the sound, then great. If you are not, it is probably because the ISO connectors bypass the power amp, and you are driving the speakers with the little amp in the Parrot. To resolve this, you need to provide an auxiliary line level input into the headunit, and let the original amplifier do its job.
I tapped the white with a red stripe lead and it was indeed the switched supply. Strangely, it worked without a relay in the missing space. Everything now working but the Parrot CK3100 kit doesn't play Bluetooth audio (which is fine, I wasn't expecting it to). Thanks again for all the help.
Hi Folks,
Attempting to install a Parrot mk9200 in '02 XKR with handset. Going to got for the splice option and I think I've found the correct harness. However I'm stumped on which one to cut? Male pins or female receptor? E.g. Top or bottom one in pic?
A really great upgrade to the OEM phone but a step too far for me methinks. I've gone for the easy option of redirecting my mobile to the car phone - works a treat.
Whatever about the Handsfree.. Been using Phone on speaker or headphones till now. It's the Bluetooth Audio I really want. So decided to kill a few birds.... Just working out the wiring connections at the mo.
OK so here's where I am on this. Only thing I'm not sure on is the Audio/Telephone line outs. The parrot harness has 2 x line out left and 2 x line out right. No idea if they are telephone, audio or what. This was compiled from several posts, none which were 100% clear.
]Any help really appreciated!
