I purchased this car used and which appeared to be in excellent condition at the time. My second day of ownership and I had to replace the pump!! Several months later and now I just went through the nightmare of the under the supercharger coolant line replacement. I've also dealt with the coolant expansion reservoir plastic bleed screw leaking. I had a local repair shop replace the under supercharger coolant line & water pump at a hefty price! ( not to mention replacing the air conditioning system too!!! 😩
I was personally able to repair the bleeding screw but have now broken off the nipple to the small hose that attaches to the side of the expansion reservoir. So now I'm looking at the expensive cost of a expansion reservoir replacement. Anyone know where to get the best price on reservoir?
The other coolant issue is a leaky hose which I can't identify for replacement. I've attached a pic with the hose pointed out. At first I thought it was just a loose hose clamp but now I see that it's a specially designed hose Any idea on this hose?
I'm so over the cooling system of this car! It's a real nightmare!

the coolant tank is about $300 on ebay . very common to break those brittle plastic nipples off. be sure to purchase the one with two nipples on it for the STR as there are others without the intercooler bleed nipple .
as for the pipe in the picture , it has a 30c o-ring inside it ,
so its no biggie .
drain the coolant .and pull the wire clip out to remove the pipe , pick the o-ring out from inside it with a pick or scriber . and stick a new o-ring back in . and refill and bleed the system .
You need to understand you have a 10 year old luxury performance car. It will require repair and maintenance. You will go broke paying for this at a shop/dealer! The only way to own a STR is to DIY the repairs.
Everything you have run into is very well known and documented. Have you changed the DCCV?
You need to change ALL the hoses now and yes there is a bunch! I think 22 separate hoses. Again many posts on here with part numbers and instructions. Good thing is you got the hardest one replaced already.
Now have you serviced the transmission yet? Be sure and read up on the ALL that needs to be done.
Finally we have the factory repair manual for free on this site. Look for the JTIS at the top of the forum. Get it and install it or buy the PDF version on EBay for $10.

Thank you for the replies & info! I'm well aware of its age LOL as I've replaced lots of things during the first few weeks of ownership like control arms, suspension links, bushings, along with a host of other odds & ends.....
The O-Ring for the hose, any idea where to find this? I'm sure the dealer would sell me the entire hose ....not sure they sell just the O-Ring....
I haven't replaced the dccv yet nor have I serviced the transmission.
Is there a hose kit that gives you everything? I found an expansion reservoir for the STR for $148.00 online ( I verified that its the same one) so I'm going to order that.
Ok when I pull the hose off, I'll take it with me. Is the o-ring just a standard style o-ring or is it a spacial type? I've ran across a couple different style o-rings on ebay....one looks like a normal large o-ring and the other is a large odd looking flat shaped one...
Well I pulled the retaining clip off the hose and removed the o-ring gasket from inside the hose. It's definitely not a "standard" o-ring bit a round flat sided style.....
It's flat sided and the jaguar dealer said you can't buy just the gasket o-ring & it's only sold as a whole assembly...it looks like the hose goes from thermostat housing down to a heater control valve....sound right?
The dealer is correct as the sealing ring is not a service part, but is included with the return hose. The JLR part number, which is VIN specific is either XR837415 (90$US) or XR852861 (87$US).
It may be false economy to not replace the return hose.

Is there an aftermarket company that might offer the o-ring? It's silly to think I would have to buy $90 hose for basically a 25cent piece lol......the hose itself appears perfect, nor westhering, still flexable, no cracks with no apparent issues. Its just this o-ring that looks weathered. The image I posted up higher in this topic looks "similar" to what the factory o-ring looks like....any ideas if that will work?
I'm not thinking we're all looking at the same hose...my hose slips directly onto the thermostat housing. Inside this hose is where the gasket is located. Ive attaching pics as I take the hose off my supercharged R series s-type.
The diagram shows #4 gasket attaching at a flange. If you refer back to my pics you can see that the hose slips onto part of the thermostat housing. There's no flange like the pic shows for #4. Am I looking at this wrong?

i think the confusion is from the fact that the connection on your thermostat manifold is not so common.
normally that hose faces straight outward and is a hose clamp situation like this .
also the flat o-ring you first posted was the manifold to engine block connection no#4
o-ring in witch are plentiful on ebay .
very similar to the thermostat no#3 and coolant outlet o-ring no#6.
but obviously not the same as the one you are pointing to .
my bet is that two standard o-rings fitted side by side instead of the original style seal will do the trick .
failing that you could 3bond the old seal and re fit it to get the remaining life out of the hose , witch is actually a permanent fix ! 3bond is awesome stuff . but not cheep.
the hose in question is the supply pipe to the auxiliary heater pump.
