2006 type R coolant nightmares!

Yes it's a supercharged R series. I think I will first try the double or triple stacked standard round o-ring. It's easy enough to get to & if it doesn't seal correctly, then I will look into other options. I just cant see buying a brand new hose at 75+ when it's such a simple cheap part to replace. Just another way for Jag to make a buck.... my new expansion reservoir should be in tomorrow. That alone with the o-ring fix should have me back on the road. After that I'll tackle the emissions low threshold check engine light icon_doh
I'll keep you guys posted.

(jaguar) what exactly was wrong with the old hose clip set up to warrant a whole new thermostat manifold casting and a different non serviceable hose connection ? you have to ask your self.
#26
Your right, what was wrong with the original design?
What really gets me is that Jag only sells it as a complete hose assembly when they could easily offer the special o-ring!
This whole hose design with the o-ring and metal retainer clip is just silly anyways. What ever happened to the old tried and true hose with metal band hose clamp! LOL

couldn't agree more , I've been there too,
i had to buy the whole expansion tank pipe set back when i purchased
my car . as it had an unreal assortment of entangled cable ties holding it on the tank outlet , instead of the steel clip . so it was $120 for a clip and a new o-ring to fix it . i later fitted the pipes to get my moneys worth .

Next I replaced my damaged expansion reservoir!
Now my question is what's the BEST WAY to blled the system? When I removed the hose from the expansion tank I lost a lot of antifreeze.....
I topted off the new reservoir after it was I stalled. I donta want to damage anything knowing there's ano air pocket in the system due to all the fluid lost.
I know this supercharged R series has a unique reservoir with a large plastic screw ( blled screw I'm guessing).

As weak as that plastic screw is I never touch it!!
I have found the STR to self bleed very well. All I do is fill and keep checking the level for a few days. Usually about 2-3 small top ups and I am done.
If you read the manual there is also a inter-cooler bleed port on top of the manifold. Has a large hex plug in it. I never remove that one either.

An easy way to bleed without be to pace the front on ramps..this way the bleed screw on the expansion tank is the highest point on the system. Full with coolant with the key on but engine off. This way you have the intercooler pump will run helping to bleed out the intercoolers.continue until full, cap on and start the engine then slowly the bleed screw to remove left over air as the system warms. Once the bubbles stop you're good to go.

Thanks guys for all the help. I bled the system and was piece of cake.
No leaks anywhere that I can tell. No slight odors of coolant like I had before. Think it's all good to go now.
Next I'm looking into my o2 sensor fault codes. Will research and post a new thread on this issue. Thanks again everyone!

JB73... I have the same issue trying to seal that hose with a suitable o-ring... do you happen to remember what size you used?! Internal diameter, outer diameter, thickness? I'm partly guessing with the old one as it's so out of shape

That car gave me such bad fits I thought I was going to run it off a cliff, luckily we dont have cliffs in Florida Lol.
Good luck on your parts search and repair.....the day I got rid of it was a Blessing. Hope you have better luck.
