Default What's the worst modification you've seen on a Jag?

Hello Chaps,
Thought I'd ask this question as I'm interested to hear what other people have seen out there. As I drive for a living I spend my life on the roads, and I get to see a lot of stuff. I've seen some pretty tasteless modifications to various cars, and Jags are amongst them. Some of the mods make me shake my head with amusement whereas others leave me with a wide eyed horror stricken look on my face. Below are a couple of examples of "mods" to Jags which IMO leave a lot to be desired:

2013 XF: This was a brand new car and was being driven by an elderly gentleman. He obviously felt his XF didn't have enough badging so had bought chrome stick on letters and written "JAGUAR" along both front wings. He'd also bought some V6 badges that looked like the old 50s V8 emblems and stuck them on there too.

2006 S Type: This guy had been on eBay and bought many transfers with Jaguar text on them. The wing mirror covers, the wheel rims, the door handles, the door glass, the wing mirror glass, the front wings and even the number plates had these stickers on. Inside he'd fitted chrome leaper logos to every door panel and even put a leaper sticker on top of the dash.

2000 XJ8: I see this one regularly, it's also suffered from the owner needing additional badging. He's got all sorts of badges on the boot lid saying how it's V8, Automatic, 3.2 litres and a ralliart logo. Inside he's got that much stuff hanging off the rear view mirror it's almost touching the J Gate and he's fixed a massive sat nav to the top of the dash. Beaded seat covers feature as well as a steering wheel cover to give a wood & leather effect.

Finally there is an XJR which I happen to have a picture of. It's recently been on eBay but I've seen it before then. This really is a case of a picture speaks a thousand words.

OK What have you seen out there?

Stu,

It must be raining in the UK .

Keeping it with the x308, I think this rear spoiler is hard to beat (pic from the internet, luckily not seen in real).

There is an ever worse one in The Netherlands, I should have some pictures, but cant seem to find them right now.

Badging!
Why do people insist in putting leapers, engine tags, logos, etc... on a jaguar.

If you DON'T know it's a Jag, you don't care anyway.

I actually didn't think the paint job in the first post was that bad.

The lowered car looks like a cartoon.

The wing and trailer hitch was HIDEOUS!!! UGH!

Eric that is an X300 with the spoiler, but I agree it is pretty bad. The tow bar isn't great either, although I had an official Jaguar detachable tow bar fitted to my last XJ. It was totally hidden from view when not in use.

The car in my photo has a vinyl wrap on it, bit it has a massive chrome towbar set up at the rear and of you look on the bonnet it has stick on bonnet vents. However the interior was fairly tidy.

I agree with the badging thing though, not just applicable to Jaguar either. It seems to be a generation thing I think, cars back in the 70's & 80's were identified by their various badges but nowadays it's a lot more subtle. So they go to the local car shop and make a mess.

I've seen a '308 on my local craigslist that had a bright neon green paint job. Don't think it was a vinyl wrap. Every time I see a Jag being mistreated, my heart breaks.

Mine is probably the worst X308 available... Multicolour, leaper, fender stripes, couple of stickers on the rear screen, huge exhaust tips, ...Couldn't care less of what people think. It is my car.

Me too. I don't know about the rest of the world, but the road surfaces here in the US aren't good enough for anything under a 45 sidewall. But I have a theory why people like Chip Foose do it. It subliminally reminds them of the exaggeratedly disproportionate toy cars they played with as toddlers.

Worst x308 modification I've seen was parked in a nearby shopping center. It had a leaper installed on the trunk lid jumping off the back. Blasphemy! Also had some oversized chrome wheels, yuck. The interior had a leopard skin pattern blanket covering the rear seat and a Jaguar plush toy sitting in the rear window (which I guess don't qualify as modifications, but are a bit fanatical if its not parked at a car show). But it looked to be very well maintained at least. So many I see now are pretty beat.

19's aren't 22' & 24' monstrosities never intended for a luxury vehicle lol.
