Also get yourself a crimping tool and crimp the injector connectors directly to the new harness.
Cheers mate! That makes life easy as I have one of their stores just down the road from my house!

when I redid my injector loom, I kept the old plug in at the end of the harness since the wire was still pliable. I also made use of a board for laying out the wires, following the old wires one at time as I went along.

instead of making a diagram, I mounted poster bard on a piece of plywood I had and use self stick 3m hooks then ran the wires according to the old

did leave plenty of extra and saved the old connector with a pig tail to connect new wires to

That is a great idea Dave cheers. Some of the other chaps had mentioned the same idea also. I think I will definitely copy this method

I am just going to move your post over to this thread:

I'm changing my plugs as well, along with spark plug wires, dizzy cover and rotor. We will see if I end up doing injector harness as well, but for now it's not the plan

David Manners tells me they will supply NGK BR7EFS for my 1989 eurospec non-Marelli 5.3 HE.
In post #6 in this thread Grant Francis tell us he uses BPR6EF

I will get a colder plug without projected insulator, but with copper core.
Thread, reach and cone is similar, so it will fit, but is it what I want ?
Cold will foul up before a hotter plug, but will also resist heat better. As long as I'm not racing the car I suppose 6 is better than 7.

Good luck Leo, I hope it goes well. Have you changed the plugs before on the XJS?

Be sure to post some pics of your adventures!

NGK BR7EFS plugs will be fine. I have used them for years. No need to overthink it.

Thanks Greg

Just pulled the 2A plug: BR7EF is what I have now.

What's annoying is that the plug was tight as hell. It's not going to be fun to get them out...
Good thing is that it looked fine and had good gap, just over 0.65mm

Hi Leo

I am also using BR7EF

These are a later version of BR7EFS with a 'V' groove in the centre pin.

Probably not much difference but I had quite a job to get them.

Having just removed mine (for the first time) .. Very scary.. had to soak them all for a week in Penetrene etc.. I had to use a 1m breaker bar on some VERRY tight plugs. Note GF's advice and remove the Dizzy cap to get at plugs 3 and 4. There were fragments of my previous cap floating around in my V.. And use never seeze grease on new plugs for next time and tighten only to 10lbf/ 1/16 turn!

Leo,

I have run the "6" in the HE for years, and I drive HARD, the wife HARDER, and no issues ever.

The PreHE gets "5" coz thats hers, and that gets caned.

I also use the "P" on the HE to get the spark out into the swirl chamber, as apposed to up inside itself, just works for me. We also got 12.5:1 comp, so the plugs do work hard.

Different climate by a long shot to yours, so your choice I suppose.

Different fuels also.

Greg has advised WELL, and his climate/etc would be similar to yours.
