Default Ejector seat control ?!

So not sure what to make of this attached to the passenger side sub woofer - the icon looks like some kind of ejector (!) and I can't find any reference in the manual. It's a 2016MY coupe for reference....

It's showing the location of the child seat restraint point on the back of the seat, where the upper tether for the child seat is fixed.

Why do they bother with these? How many F-type owners will put a child seat into one?

That's interesting. My 6 and 8 year old ride with me from time to time but I would never really think to let my 2 year old ride in his car seat in my R.

Well said. The federal government says otherwise in FMVSS 225. That Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requires vehicles (not buses, semi trucks, and strangely convertibles) with 0 forward facing designated seating positions to have anchorage points in all front passenger seating positions. Thus, by definition, the F-Type must have an anchorage point in the passenger seat to meet federal law or it would not be allowed on sale in the US. I cannot speak for other countries or regions.

As of others have stated, its the cover for the child safety seat mount. Because its simply snaps on and off, it also has a tendency to rattle when playing bass heavy music given its location immediately above one of the subwoofers. I removed mine promptly.

I've got a booster seat in the boot (trunk to you US owners) for when my 6 year old is in the car. I don't see why someone wouldn't take a smaller child out in a full child seat.

When or if you do take a child out in the car, just don't whatever you do push/pull that button....that is of course unless they are screaming their head off ;-)

I took my 2 year old nephew out in his full child seat, that was a few months ago, and his red toy car is the only one he plays with now and won't stop talking about "Uncle Mike's red racing car". He also regularly insists that I play him YouTube vids of the F-Type.

Start 'em off early...!

Here in Texas and according to our DMV, a child cannot ride in the front seat, period, until the child meets certain height/weight/age pre-requisites. I still have to keep my kid in a booster and this has kept me from getting a coupé. Until he is able to ride in the front seat in a few years, I am "stuck" in an XF (not a bad problem to have mind you).

Besides, my tuning plans seem to be going well, and the V6 tune and pulley can all transfer over to the F in a few years.

Ejector seat control!!! ... would be nice when getting an ear full from the spousal unit on a long drive...
