Here, if you fit tires with a lower rating, you need a sticker in your instrument cluster saying no more than so and so kph. In T casing 190 kph. As an S itbshould be less like 160 kph (haven't got the rating in my head but the speed is lower). If you drive faster, it is your fault if something happens.
I had a bit of a feeling that it could be something like that but even so I do tend to feel that Tyres and Brakes are things that you don't skimp on, so if I have to pay £150-£200 a piece, then so be it.
That's why I fitted New Calipers and re Plumbed all the Brake Pipes, so 'el cheapo' Tyres would be a big mistake.
My idea is always: the tires are your only contact to the road. If you save money there, you reduce your contact and therefore grip to the road making the car more liable for accidents or better incidents.

Agree with this, also check with regulations, in Australia it is illegal to fit tyres with a lower speed rating than is specified for the vehicle.
If in an accident insurance companies can refuse to pay if your vehicle is not road worthy.

At the risk of showing my ignorance I do not have any idea what a 'bit coin miner' is.
I just bought it as it was a bargain and something that I use to earn a living, where I can keep my old one as a Spare.
So its really overkill for what I use it for but on the Plus side its blazingly fast and also purrs like an XJS instead of sounding like an old tin can.
Bitcoins are an expensive currency. They don't physically exist. You get them by providing computerpower to certain facilities which can then use your computer for tasks many and really many TB of ram and GHz of processing power is needed. For that though your computer has to run 24/7.
A bitcoinminer is kind of like a computer working for you. One bit coin will take a while to generate BUT a bitcoin is currently worth MORE than £800! And all it is is computer power which you can turn to cash...
you mentioned somewhere along the lines, that you had your radiator recored... I would want that done to mine (has been JB welded in a few spots by previous owners and I don't like that). Where did you have it done and how much was it?
German "recorers" want around €800 for a recore... A new radiator costs about the same...

bitcoin is an electronic secure currency that is generated by the bit coin mining software and are generated 50 at a time you install the miner and it makes crypto-hashes that are used to securely move the money across the internet... when you mine you also get a turn in making 50 bitcoins
and the graphics cards you have are used to do that (more powerful than the CPU for hashing...) so what is £800 time 50 ... Hmm.... you can also join a mining team where they all kick in together and split the coins... (not as good) and there are the dedicated bit coin miner hard ware that are optimized for max Hash/sec...
yes I have bought a new al thicker radiator and yes it was 800 US and it dose work great...

Almost lost my mind this afternoon. I had an appointment today so had to take the day off work. Afterwards went to the junkyard to clear my mind. Went to the area with the two '89 XJS's.............they were gone! In a near state of despondent panic I went back to the office who looked up the status of the cars. They had been moved. Whew. With much searching I found one (never did find the second one - yet). I had much longer extension with me along with the correct Torx socket and was able to remove the AAV. Unfortunately the entire steering column including the steering wheel and instrument panel have been removed since I saw the car on Saturday.
No dawdling. I will get the headliner on Saturday no matter what the weather is even though it is not as good as the one on the other car - that I never could find.
With that one exception I have everything I need for the car now. The other stuff was just nice to have.
Dropped the AAV into a pan of boiling water to clean it out when I got home. Don't know how to tell if it works but it is much cleaner now.
Many Thanks for taking the trouble to supply all that info on the 'Bit Coin' thing but it is really not for me, I will leave all that Stuff to the 'Geeks' who know what they're doing.
As for my New Computer which I need for blogging on here, it is one of the best bits of kit that I have ever bought and so silent that if it were not for the lights, I wouldn't even know if it was running.
And Yes! there's a Set of XJS Wheels under the Kitchen Table, the only reason being that apart from the Bedroom and Lounge, there is no where else to keep Spares, which I happen to think is perfectly normal.
