Default My "Dream List" of mods for my '16 R coupe

Welcome thoughts of course including brands and the like. Other than tint I haven't done a thing to the girl. Yet.

Personal taste is I don't like the chrome on a Firesand car so a “Chrome delete” is in order. I'd like to get the CF pieces (hood louvres and side vents) from Jag but really don't see spending that kind of money so considering just having them properly painted a black that compliments the other pieces. Same things with the "oval" chrome around the front grill.

I may even do some sort of custom vinyl stripping that I've been working on. Just not sure about that though.

I LOVE the OEM exhaust note in Dynamic but heck perhaps MORE is better? Thinking Quicksilver exhaust system OR something custom from a local shop that I have years of experience with as they've done work on everything from Ford GT's, to Lambos, Porsche's, to Ferrari's.

Plenty want to talk me into a tune as well which I'm curious about but also VERY leery of doing anything that could jeopardize the warranty coverage. Local techs seem to think it no big deal with a flip of a switch but again...the warranty.

She is a daily driver though I have other cars I drive as well. Only had since late July and already have over 11k miles. LOVE IT!

Thoughts?

My F Type R was supposed to be white with black/red interior. Instead I drive a black on black...for half the price

Inpatient? Actually I waited approximately 15 months before buying as I rarely splurge on myself instead choosing to do things more family-oriented.

I originally was in the market for black, however, a friend asked, "How many black cars are you going to get?" At that time 3 of the 4 were already black so that would have made 4 of 5. So, I went to the wild side and went orange.

Why not the black pack then? Well, it wasn't already on there and as far as some of the parts being vinyl wrapped (not all of course) I knew who the dealership used for those services. They're horrible in my personal experience and frankly the markup after was out of the question. I have 2 other outfits that wrap if that's the direction I go.

So, sounds like I'm more like BostonKiller and got incredible deals on what we bought and perhaps just want to make a few personal touches to the car that's in the garage.

BTW, the nickname for mine is the "Anti-Prius".

Have a good day everyone.

Throw one of these bad boys on, have them in stock. Then you can have more sound when you want it and shut the valves when you want quiet:

The video linked above sounds a little less dramatic than I think I've heard before. Maybe a little deeper as well. This is stock:

A lot of the other valved setups like Capristo also include sport cats. Which is just off the charts loud with a valved system like ours. The valved system we make is really targeted at people who are retaining the stock cats, but want a loud option. That said, the 'closed' operation is same as our Touring setup so if you have cats fitted and want a Loud + Insane mode option this is the one.

Looks like you've made an SVR friend. I love that red on the SVR.

Vinyl stripes is something I would do (and have done) as well, though with orange, your options are mostly limited to black or dark grey.

I was just at a local Jag club meeting yesterday and talking with a fellow F-type owner. He was told that Jag is super hard on any mods and will void your warranty in a split second. Not sure how true that is but I surely don't want to risk voiding either the warranty or the maintenance coverage

Cosmetics like the chrome delete and perhaps some stripping to accent and create a more racing appearance are on the forefront for me anyway. Lowering a smidge and an even deeper exhaust note would be loved though. Even the tune. Oh well.

All depends on your risk tolerance, but my opinion is that it's unlikely that anything should happen and the odds are heavily in your favor. Worst case scenario, uninstall mods before bringing car in for warranty work. It's not as though your mods would have actually harmed the vehicle, so there's no ethical dilemma that I see.

I am not going to let a warranty affect my enjoyment of my vehicle.

They can't void maintenance unless you replace something they're trying to maintain. And Jaguar also can't "void" a warranty. There are laws in place to prevent this, and Jaguar would have to prove your mod caused the issue.

That is true, but they could make your life hell over it.

Not disagreeing with you on that point. Just want to make sure its clear that Jaguar won't be refusing to fix your radio because you put an aftermarket exhaust on the car.

Just musing here... but is it possible that when fixing an unrelated warranty item or anything else like oil change, they'll see the modifications (exhaust is particularly easy to spot) and place your vehicle into a list of cars known to have been modded?

I'm not paranoid. Just thinking about it.

Thanks for the info everyone. Lots to consider.

@hoonery - LOVE the blue you selected. If I didn't get Firesand that would be my choice as well. They have an SVR in that color here locally. All the CF bits too. Lust lust lust.

Thanks! I realized after my last car just how important paint color is. I want to look at the car and adore it as much as I want to adore driving it.

Hey, ask what kind of deal you can get. I got a nice deal on mine.

I already have the R in firesand. Got a super good deal otherwise I would have leased to keep the payment down. The SVR had just shown up in the showroom when I started getting into serious negotiations.

If given the opportunity to get an SVR in either color (orange or blue), the coupe again, with a similar deal I'd probably jump on it. I've teased my local salesman to keep an eye out. You never know. In the mean time I'm super happy with my R-coupe and merely look forward to a little personalization to the ol' Anti Prius.
