Default 1985 JAGUAR XJ6 Engine Harnesses TO buy

Dear JAGUAR Lovers,

I need Engine Harnesses and Radio for my 1985 XJ6. I have noticed all the harnesses in my engine are week and am afraid to drive it.

Do you have Harness in GOOD condition to sell to me?
Could you also recommend where i can have the harnesses to buy?

Engine Compartment attach to show Harnesses.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

I replaced my engine harness last year with a new one from David Manners in UK.

They are made to order so a 70 day lead in, but very happy with the result.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hi Mike,

I also changed the ignition harness (the one that connects the coil to the ignition system)

Again, purchased from David Manners at the same time.

Those two harnesses are easy to get at and change and suffer the most from under bonnet (hood) heat related problems.

Other harnesses are harder to get at and should be OK.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hi Mike,

That's not what happened to me

Jaguar, Daimler, MG, Mini, Triumph, MX5, Morris Minor, Car Parts from David Manners Group of Companies in the UK

I just looked at the site you posted and I haven't been there.

I'm wondering if they don't bother doing the middle man stuff and are pointing you to the original supplier.

Harnesses look OK though.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hi Mike,

You will probably need

Injector Harness XJ6311 and

Engine Harness XJ6313

Just looking at your engine bay photo's, there is a lot of weathering (surface rust and oxidation).

I dare say that earth straps and earthing points will need a decent clean as well.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hi,
A thought.....
I also have looked closely at the upper harnesses and will be replacing the cracked and worn ones with new.
I haven't looked at the price of buying them elsewhere, and wasn't going to. My first thought was to just make new ones myself.
It's not actually as hard as it seems.
For the efi ones anyway, main harnesses, no thank you!
The electrical diagrams in the stickies help, but aren't necessary for this. They are necessary for lots of other things.
I reckon most people who can use tools could do this one.
I can easily find the right color and gauge wire and know how to join electrical fittings like these, so I'm laughing, but even if you have to substitute wire colors, if you take your time, you can remake any harness you want.
Just a thought...
For me, this is easy, but I know some people would have serious trouble.
But, I'm noticing that if you own an old jag, you like working with all these car things.
Or you like paying someone to do all these car things.

Many owners do indeed make up their own replacement harnesses. I've done a few in my time.

Sometimes a harness can be repaired rather than replaced. Case by case decision, obviously. Usually, though, that FI harness that sits right on top of the water rail is beyond hope.

Cheers

I remember that I replaced mine before it became hopeless.
