2008 Jag XKR 66k miles $ 22k. I am taking this car for a check up before I buy. Seller owns a large auto repair chain and seems to have maintained the car well. He is just creating space in his large garage for other cars. I already have a 96 VandenPlas. Test drove and all seems ok. Inside out pristine and he is prepared to replace front windshield that has a chip. He says the car needs no service in the near future and just needs a good driver.
This car will be a daily driver for less than 8 miles commute and outing car with Mrs on weekends.

I am conversant with cars, but not too techy about it.

Any feedback would be appreciated

 

It looks like a good specimen. 1/2 the miles of mine for a couple grand more.

I do like how it looks without tint. I think mine is going to get removed.

its a bit more expensive than your average toyota or Nissan, but overall its doable..
if you have a newer version with warranty your usually good to go.. and it highly depends on how you drive.. mine needs to go to service every 12k (km), and a service is around 500-600USD (equivalent) as mine is in Dubai.

But remember, you do have sports tires, you do have sports breaks and calipers.. you also have a massive V8 that is not really economical..

but.. yups.. its a sports car that can drive relaxed too

 

Maintenance on a 2008 XKR should be very easy. Oil changes are nothing unusual, as this 2008MY uses a standard oil filter and any shop or quick lube can change the oil and filter for under $50.00.

I had a 2009 XKR and spent $200 over a 3 /12 year period to keep it maintained. The 4.2L Jaguar engine is highly reliable. No reported problems with water pumps as in the 5.0L Jaguar engine and no reported problems with A/C duck bill leaking into the interior. Ther 2007MY had the A/C duck bill problems.

Normal wear on brake pads and rotors are expected from a 2008 XKR. They may need to be changed soon, check for specs and measure with a caliper tool in MM's.

A black car is very hard to keep clean and requires some special detailing techniques as a black car will certainly show swirl marks in the paint very easily.

Otherwise, there is nothing major you should be concerned about. However, it may be worth spending $150-$200 have a local Jaguar dealer complete an inspection on the XKR before buying.

So far from what I've done to resurrect mine, it's not terribly expensive. Aftermarket water pump was $100, Denso o2 sensors are $115 each for the fronts. Oil filter was $15 or so but it does take 8 qts to fill. Air filters (2 engine, 1 cabin) aren't terribly cheap but by design they stay pretty clean. The air filters are under the headlamps, pull the front wheels to access them. Online Jag parts are reduced 5-10% from MSRP from Jag dealers but you make that up in shipping. I did need one hose that was $70 but it has a special plastic fitting on one end. I don't think Ford or Lincoln (parent company) parts were must cheaper. Spark plugs and coils are the same as other V8 DOHC engines. A jack that's less than 4" is needed to get the car up off the ground which can be a pain.

You are getting the XKR which means you won't be 'blessed' with the plastic T-stat housing like the XK's have. Ours is aluminum and much more durable.

 

Update:
Took the car to a Auto Shop and they found few things and prior owner will take care of it - Replace rear brakes, replace all fluids, replace windshield. I got the car for $ 21,000. (He paid $ 103,000 Nov 2007.
