Default J-Gate Question

I have had a few Jaguar's over the years with the J-gate shiftier. I noticed on all my prior cars with the car in park and the car not running when you try to move the shiftier it beeps at you warning not to shift. But with my recent purchase of a X150 I noticed this car does not do that. Do the X150's (07-09) have this audible warning?

Thanks,

I do not have the audio warning on it.. but it just wont move at all.. when the car is not running, the J Shifter is actually locked.. which had me worried constantly on what happens if the engine stops or does not start and you need the car towed.. (cause you cannot force it into neutral)

You tow it with the rear wheels off of the ground as you normally would.

Wow, with 4" of clearance at the nose it's not coming off the ground very far. I'd think dolly the rear and wheel lift the front. Or drag the poor thing up on a roll back but again the entry angle is going to make it a PITA to do.

It works out OK , no issues.

Thanks,
I've never heard of a Jag or any other car that has an audible warning that cautions not to move the shifter. Like all modern cars, the shifter cannot be moved out of park without having the ignition 'on' and the foot brake pedal depressed.

Still, that's crazy low for the wheel lift. If it grounds hard the rear wheels on the truck will lift possibly creating an unsafe condition (jack knife). I drag stuff from time to time with a '89 Ford F-450 wrecker that we did a Cummins swap on. I wouldn't go down the road like that and I'm pretty sure DOT would bust me if I did.

50 miles on the interstate and not a scratch under the nose.

The video attached is what I am referring too. Does the X150 have this warning?

Thanks

My S-type, and I think all modern Jags have that warning to advise that the transmission is not fully in Park when attempting to remove the key or turn off the ignition.

Not quite the same purpose as you described above.

Yes, which is why I am asking if the x150 XK's have the same warning. It seems like mine does not work.

Try to remove the key without the shifter being fully in the P position. That's the only time mine will sound.

The X-150's use keyless start.

OK, try stopping the engine without the shifter fully in P.
