I have used the super sports for many years (couple of sets) and have been more than pleased with them, so it was a no-brainer to buy the P4S now as a successor. I have just installed them on the rears (these somehow wear fastest for me ;-) though unfortunately it’s still too cold here so I can’t comment about the performance yet, but I don’t expect anything less than the Super sports.

PS My thanks to Leeper was accidental somehow, though the post wasn’t bad!

You're the first user that I'm aware of that actually has the 4s's it'll be interesting to hear what your assessment is once the weather cooperates. I know a LOT of people on both sides of the pond awaiting their tires to finally arrive.

Not sure what you're thanking me for but glad to help regardless. This week buying Bridgestone's for my DD (they are the only one to make tires in that particular size)

Beware dangers of tire-tread separation

i put Michelin pilot super sports on my '11 xkr and they performed extremely well. i couldn't wait to replace the original equipment Dunlops.
Since then I have sold the '11 and now have a '14 XKR-S that came with Pirelli tires. Only 2800 miles on the car, so it may be a while before they need to be replaced, but I will likely go with the Michelin pilot super sports again. ...they were just smoother, and quieter.

I have a 12 XKR with 265 front and going to be 295 rears. I have the front 4S's on but waiting on the rears - basically driving on bald MPSS's right now.

Driving with Michelins = BLASPHEMY!!! Son't you know you're endangering women and children?!?!?! Doing so will make you grow a tail, write bad checks, Michelins are made from the souls of kittens and for their mold release they used are actually baby's tears!!! If you don't believe me just ask CeeJay

You laugh but its true- and the joke is on us. Remember me stating they use cooking oil that goes rancid on a kitchen counter.

People can laugh at me all they want, but I'm right and they aren't. Therefore it doesn't matter WHO laughs. Laugh away and have all the fun! You're still wrong. Meanwhile I will, until I die (NOT caused by faulty and crappy MPSS tires) ever buy another Michelin product, even if they are the only company who ends up selling petrol in the universe. All the while I will get far superior tires at a fraction of the price.

Will you eat at a Michelin rated restaurant. Now do you see the connection between Michelin awarded chefs and used cooking oil ending up in our tires.

BTW the same thing happened to a friend with Pirrelli. The tire decided one week to start disintegrating, and it was the front tires just like mine.

I don't pay obnoxious prices for food just because some Food Critic somewhere says it is fantastic. NO meal in history has ever been worth $500+ per plate. Not even if I was a multi-billionaire.
I DO use Olive Oil with my popcorn maker though....

Pretty ugly Q&C .What did the tire folks say. It almost looks like under inflation. How many miles on the tire before you noticed this.

Tire folks including Michelin said Age/compound failure.
Implying shelf-life. And I was sold out-of-date tires.
The damage you see occurred over 2 weeks and about 100 miles.

Never ran a tire under inflated in my life. Let alone 2 of them on a 510hp car.
They were perfectly inflated, the damaged continued even after they had first inspected the tires a week earlier.

Curious how old were the tires when you got them? Ordered some tires from Discount TC for my DD yesterday inquired as the the build date and will check that BEFORE they get mounted.

That's the theory explaining why the Porsche CGT that wiped out Paul Walker, old tires that gave way at the excessive speed they were traveling - new tires should have held. Not saying that was your remedy just that old tires can certainly give way

My fronts were MUCH worse, all perfectly inflated since Jump. Rears weren't quite that bad but had checking and cracks between the tread lugs.
All of them had manufacture dates within twelve months of when Michelin FINALLY agreed to refund them all at different rates... 90% for R-F, 75% for L-F and 60% for both rears. All under 3500 miles at that point.
Crap tires, but after much yelling and screaming at them from both me AND Discount tires they finally did do me OK by the partial refund. It shouldn't have been a problem AT ALL, starting from the purchase of supposed 'WONDERFUL' tires.

Cee Jay and Q&C,

Do you recall the date stamps on the crap tires you got?
Wondering if you both got tires from the same batch of french fries.
If you post the date stamps, the rest of us (and our friends) can check to see if we have potentially deadly tires hitting the pavement.

Not specifically for me, but I bought the tires about 23 months ago and they were no older than four months old at that time. January 2015????

I've seen Pirelli and Bridgestones look like that too...
