I have and continue to enjoy my 2015 S which will be coming off of lease in the next 6 months. Needless to say, I'm "looking" around at what I consider to be interesting alternatives.

That takes me to the title of this thread. I am curious if anyone out there has been toying with this idea...?

 

I test drove the Corvette and it was an interesting ride. It basically changes it's attitude the more you get on the throttle in a progressive way. I was only allowed a short drive because for whatever reason the dealership doesn't like them test driven, however I found it kind of unpredictable and never really felt the immense joy I get with the F-Type. I have a feeling that you will easily get used to the progressive attitude change, but I always feel better in a car that acts the way I want it to. Now on a side note, there are like 10 settings for dynamics that can be adjusted on the car, and the sales guy had no idea how to even access the menu, so I really don't know if that would have made it "more my style". I think you have to just try it and see what you like! Some very cool tech in it, amazing grip, good styling, lots of power, just wasn't a good fit for me

Good car; great value. Compared to the F type it has pluses and minuses. Member Foosh traded his Ftype V6 Base for a Z51 manusl 'vette and seems happy.

You should be able to get a really good price on one though. A month ago there was over a 200 day supply.

I traded my '14 stingray for a '16 R. It was a great decision. The vette was great but with very few exceptions, the R is superior in most ways...exhaust and interior quality being the most significant in my opinion. Plus I wouldn't call it a "new" vette any more. When I got mine people were always asking what it was and taking pictures etc. now they are pretty common. I would only go back if I wanted the power of a Z06 for cheap...or if the mythical mid engine corvette is realized in 2018 or 2019. It might look enough like an Italian super car to get me to buy it.

 

I think they look better than they used to for sure. But like people have said, they're everywhere. Plus, they're chevys. Couldn't get over that.

 

I looked at one about 2 months ago and found it to tight for my 6'2" frame. Yes the f type is tight too but worth it! The Vette is the best value going but while I think it's a weapon I love the looks of the f type more so I picked up my 2015 S and love everything about it. To each his own so good luck if you do it. Can always come back.

 

Rented a stingray about 6 months ago when I first decided to get another sports car.

24 hours was all I needed, comforts were really minimal, even with a well optioned car. On the flip side, the daily driving comforts I was looking for the base f type did have. Plus, the FT is way more original.

 

I am a 'vette guy and owned a few...love them especially the new C7s. I was set on getting the new Grand Sport but after I saw and drove the F-type (especially with the V8), the decision was made. The Jag is a lot prettier IMHO and more sophisticated looking (the Corvette is still great looking but more purposeful with a track vibe), and loved the sound of the Jag more too. Plus, like others have already mentioned, tons of new and older gen Corvettes running around (especially where I live) so the Jaguar offers a lot more exclusivity.

The Corvette was going to my 2nd choice followed by the BMW M4 and the Porsche Cayman 718. If you go with the Corvette I don't think you'll be disappointed. But I still prefer the Jag. Good luck!

 

I have a 2016 F Type R convertible and a 2017 Corvette Z06 coupe. The Z06 is not as refined in the interior department as the Jag but still holds its own. It is easy to drive as a DD (mine is not) or push it hard and drive it like you stole it. The 650hp comes on strong and immediate. It's a fun car to drive, easy to work on, and there is a Chevy dealer just about anywhere you go.

I've owned Corvettes since 1985 (2 1982's, an 89 conv, a 98 conv, an 06 conv that I still have, a 13 427 conv, and now the 17 Z06 coupe) and have enjoyed them all. I can still honestly say that every time I get in the F Type it puts a smile on my face and I could waste a tank of fuel just doing 0-60 runs all day.

 

As mentioned above, Foosh is the one to consult among us, since he made that switch as while back. Personally, I see the 'vette as a good price-performer in it's space, but I really like having something less common. I went out running a few errands today and got no less than 6 compliments on the car (not counting a couple of thumbs-up in traffic). But, if you prefer a car that won't get much notice, a 'vette is even better than a 911. You should check the buy-out price on your F-Type.

 

i made the change too, just in the opposite direction. I'm super pleased that I did.

 

Went to a coffee and cars the other weekend, only to see over a dozen new corvette to my only f type at the show. The corvette is a good value for the performance, but I would stick with your f type.

 

Still have your Bugeye? I used to race them back in the 70's.

 

Though I didn't buy the F type for attention, it sure gets some. I was taking a buddy out for a ride last week and he asked me if I get alot of comments on the car........30 seconds later a young 20-something girl yells out " Are you single?"......I just looked over to my buddy and told him that kind of behaviour is common. .....another mile down the road we stopped at a light and a 50 y/o guy with his wife says "nice car" and asked what it was; he and his wife were betting on whether it was a Jag or an Aston.

...the F type isn't for shy people, that's for sure.

A friend at work said if you have a Jag and a British accent and can't pull you just aren't looking....I have both but that honestly wasn't the intention ;-)

 

Perhaps its time for me to start working on an accent.
