After a very long time, I have my car back, but during the repair, I was informed a heater core hose broke, and I told them I'd take the car as is (bill was getting ridiculous), so, how much of a pain is it? I'm looking for the part, but any and all tips are very much appreciated. Hoping to be cruising again soon!

It's great to have you back!

From the description, it sounds like a pipe on the heater core may have broken. If so, replacing the heater core requires removing the dash, which is not as difficult as it sounds.

On the other hand, if they just meant a heater hose broke, replacing those is a little easier. Off the top of my head, I think standard 5/8 inch I.D. heater hose will work. I can't recall the year of your car, but on the later cars the heater water control valve threads into the cylinder head below the intake manifold which can make it a little more difficult to replace the hoses.

If the heater core itself needs to be replaced, let us know and I'll give you some tips on removing the dash.

Thanks!! From my understanding, without looking at the paperwork given to me, it is just the heater hose, and hopefully nothing else.

 

Though they said it's between "the block and the firewall".. so I'm not sure

 

Alright, based on observations after getting her back, it looks to be one of the two Hester core rubber hoses that curves under the intake and towards the back of the block

 

Upon closer inspection of the hose that was leaking, I found the hose wasn't on all the way..loosened the clamp, pushed it on all the way, tightened it back up, no more leak. Was the short hose that goes from the firewall to under the intake manifold near the back of the block. Glad that's fixed.

 

In business you now get to count yourself $357 ahead. Nice job Prospering!
